2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

The Jays play 25 of their 27 September games against East opponents, and now that Baltimore is real and the Red Sox are crawling back into the race, it should be the best baseball month in Toronto since the World Series years...

Can hardly wait, providing that the Jays by then are still in contention for a playoff spot.

I don't think a week goes by without the Blue Jays being on the wrong end of an inexplicable and incompetent call by an umpire.

I really think that Igarashi should never have been pitching in that game after his horrible outing yesterday - for me, that is what cost the Jays the game. I would have brought Frasor out to start off the inning - granted he gave up the winning home run and may not have made a difference, but as soon as I heard who was pitching I turned off the game and figured the Jays had lost.

Also, I see Arencibia got an RBI, but was 1-6 and is now 1 for his last 19.

Anyone know the extent of Johnson's injury?

Or is he injured?

He has a hamstring issue, I believe. THey took him out of the game late the other day because of it, but, from what I've read, it's not too serious - no structural damage, just inflammation.

Looks like when the dust settles, this will be the worst series of the year so far for the Jays. 9-1 Texas in the top of the 4th.

I really hope this doesn't send them in a tailspin to the bottom of the league.

Looks like it might be time to send Drabek back to AAA to work on his command again.

It's nice to know that the Jays are falling apart at the end of May for the 10th year in a row!  The Red Sox are going to pass the Jays today assuming they hold on to a 3-2 lead in the 8th (including having the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th to expand their lead).

After this game, they will be .500, six games back from what I feel is still a seriously overachieving Baltimore team and 2.5 games back from a wild card spot.

This isn't an ideal scenario, but there is a lot of baseball yet to be played.

I expect the Jays to rebound and put together a four wins in five games streak or something similar - it has been their pattern so far this season, and I expect that unless something major changes, they will keep it up and finish the season right around .500.

David Cooper reminds me a little of John Olerud - a guy who doesn't have ton of HR power, but gets on base a lot, hits well, etc. Not on the same level as Johnny O, but, I can see why the team has kept him around when they could have easily moved on to more traditional, power hitting 1B prospects.

Yeah, Cordero was really walking the tight rope there, wasn't he? No wonder the bullpen gets worn out with idiotic performances like that - Janssen in for the save in what should have been a breeze.
