2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Looks like Cecil may have made the decision easy for management as to whether or not he should be in the starting rotation - 9 runs in 4 innings today. Yikes.

Not a great start today, but, he had only given up 5 runs in 12.2 innings coming in.

Unless they pick someone else up in the next couple days, he probably starts in the rotation to give Drabek a little more time to prove he has his command issues worked out.

Well, the Jays won't be going after Votto (nor will anyone else): http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2012/04/joey-votto-reds-contract-extension/1#.T3pN9DusSJq

Cecil demoted to Double-AA.  Not good for someone projected to be the 3rd starter.

Carreno has been brought up.  Also means Drabek made the rotation.

For all the buzz and excitement, this team better get some reasonable/consistent pitching from everyone not named Romero otherwise it could dissipate quite quickly.

Bringing up Carreno is a surprise. I thought they wanted McGowan in the rotation.

Looks like it wil be Romero, Morrow, Alvarez, Drabek and Carreno.

I remember hearing they'll only need a 5th starter once over the first month of the season.

It's be cool if Colby decided to start hitting the ball.  Committing the sin of combining MLB and Spring training numbers, his stat-line as a Jay is:

In 198 plate attempts (185 AB) 32 hits 12 doubles 3 home runs
.173 (AVG)/.227 (OBP)/.286 (SLG)/.513 (OBP)

Rasmus was one of my larger concerns going in. Snider IMO should be playing CF until Rasmus can sort himself out. Yeah, I know Rasmus needs the ABs to do so but still.

Snider's nowhere close to good enough defensively to play CF.

He's not, but Rasmus isn't good enough defensively to make up for those numbers either.

I disagree Busta, I think Snider can play a decent CF. He's shown that.

He's played all of 6 games in CF at the big league level during which he played 36 innings there and had all of 12 chances, and another 7 games and 13 chances in the minors. He's shown nothing.

I don't know what defensive stats to look at, but I was under the impression that Rasmus is among the best defensive CFs in baseball.

Did you actually see the games he played in CF last year? I did and he looked good. If Rasmus' bat completely dries up, playing Snider in CF could (probably should) be the way the Jays go.

I don't know where he ranks but no question, he's slick out there but man, that bat needs to come around.
