2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Well, we'll get a look at Hechavarria.

Cecil to Vegas. Carpenter DFA. Hechavarria and Chavez recalled. #bluejays

Lawrie and Rasmus day to day. Hech starts at 3b Sat. Happ starts Thurs in Tampa. #bluejays

Farrell says Cecil will still start in Vegas. Lawrie still bothered by oblique, Rasmus has sore groin. Neither inj is serious. #bluejays

As much as I dislike and harp on the Blue Jays, I can't really fault them for the way this season has turned out.

The Jays win and Romero pitches reasonably well? What month is this?
Control was shaky, but a win's a win. So far, AA's bullpen acquisitions look good.

Too bad we now need starters and position players.

So, at this stage in the season -- (shall I insert yet another disappointing injury-plagued season) -- seriously, are the Jays going to make the playoffs?  Is there any faint hope?

The Jays are 10.5 back of first in the A.L. East, and just 5.5GBL for the wildcard spot.

Now, they've got to put together a string of wins, work hard, play smart, and hope for the best.  I'm certain the Jays can do it.  The question is, will they?

Kind of shocking how they are missing three starting pitchers, their closer, a few other bullpen guys and five starting position players. Keeping up that .500 pace may have become a bit more difficult. :(

Yeah. There's only so much a team's depth can be tested before it's too much to handle. All things considered, they've done well just to stick around this long, but, it has also shown that there's still a fair amount of work to be done with this team.

Not to mention one of those position players is Jose freakin' Bautista.  And a pitcher who was one of the top pitchers in the league this season when he went down.

It's seems like it's been a pretty screwy year for injuries in general. The Sox and the Yankees have been hit pretty hard as well.

Then you've got Farnsworth, Niemann, Longoria, Scott, and now maybe Zobrist out for TB.

Crazy when you think, Farnsworth/Rivera/Santos/Bailey are all out with significant injuries this year. Apparently...investing in a closer is not the safest move one can do with one's money.

Not necessarily. I mean Heath Bell has been relatively healthy and...nevermind.

I know what you're thinking: "It's been awhile since I heard some bad news about a Jays pitcher."

Drew Hutchison has left Dunedin to see Dr. James Andrews. Been told he had a bit of a setback. Not good news. #bluejays
