2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

How is he going to play without the juice though?

San Francisco wanted no part of him after the suspension and I believe they only offered him a few million to re-sign.

Well, the jury's out... He won't have last year's numbers for sure... Cheap enough short term gamble though.

I've already heard whining about the price tag.  I think we still have to remember that the Jays will need to overpay to lure free agents here, even with a revamped and much more enticing team.

Maybe they get to pay market rate when they are winning division titles again, but until then, a few extra $mil is going to be normal.

It would be fun working in sales for the Jays right now. The team is getting huge publicity around their new dynamite lineup, the AL East is wide-open, there are two wild card spots up for grabs, and your biggest dream - that the Leafs would somehow disappear - has come true!

They will need to open up some new blocks of season seats then. I just took a look online and it's pretty slim pickings.  A few options in the 200 level but almost nothing down low or even up high.

People said the same thing re: Ryan Braun and he seemed to adjust pretty well. Cabrera hit really well the year before as well.

True enough. I'm not betting on similar fantastic numbers though. I still think/hope he can have decent/good ones.

Now, an upgrade on Lind for the 1B/DH split with EE, and this team is pretty set - assuming the Jays get 2011/2012 Melky, rather than pre-2011 Melky.

Lind didn't suck when he came back. The line up is good enough now that I can live with him though you're right, an upgrade there would be swell.

A couple good months of "not sucking" is not enough to look past a career that has been mostly ordinary at best - especially from a position where significant offensive production is expected. I'd actually rather see Cooper in that role than Lind, and even Cooper is not really good enough.

... and I thought I had a hate on for Lind. Hey, I'm not going to defend him so fire at will.

I'm on that bandwagon. Cooper may not have a superhigh ceiling but at this point I'd be more inclined to at least give him the shot to get there. Lind doesn't need any more at-bats.

Some big moves by AA that have me pretty excited about the upcoming season.

Any word on whether Bud Lite has approved the trade yet?

So now what? The roundtable just suggested moving Colby and putting Boni in CF. I think I'd be behind that... Maybe in a package with JPA? I imagine that would fetch a nice return... A big time 2B perhaps?

Was it the roundtable or Bob? Bob seems to have had a hate on for Colby since he arrived. Mind you, Colby hasn't done a whole lot to endear himself either other than hit more than 20 hrs.

I listened to Zaun yesterday and he made the point that Buck really helped improve JPA to the point where he is defensively today and that a JPA / Buck combo would be great for this season, with an eventual development of D'arnaud with JPA still around.

I guess that the bottom line is that I am okay with keeping JPA / Buck at catcher. Not sure what I would do with Colby. He really needs to get his act together this season. Not sure how much value he would have at this point.
