Nice of Bob to do the math for his followers.

You know, that's more than I'd want to pay Kelly but I'm guessing both of those totals are roughly market value.

At this rate there will be zero UFAs on July first.

That's 2 of their top 4 defensemen gone I think...they have a good chunk of cap space too. Maybe they give Smith an opportunity now..

My guess is that's part of it. They'll make a big play for Suter and give Smith a bigger role. If they miss out on Suter, they'll probably pick up someone like Kubina or Corvo as a place holder.

If they miss out on Suter they're in trouble. At least until next season when they possibly get a chance at Weber.

Unless Holland goes offer-sheet crazy...which to be honest worries me a tiny bit.

You mean on Weber? That'd be interesting actually. You'd think if a guy like Holland put together an offer sheet it might become a little more acceptable for other GMs.

Now could you imagine if the Preds lost both Suter and Weber in one summer? They'd almost have to match whatever Weber gets if they can't get Suter to sign.

Karlsson - what if Holland decides he wants mini-Lidstrom?

I think it's a possibility. It's in Nashville's best interests to find out very quickly if Weber is willing to commit long-term. If not, they really need to trade him. Losing Suter + Weber will be bad, losing them both for nothing would be a disaster.

Chris Stewart signed with the Blues, took a pay cut and is making 3 million on a one year deal next year. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere already, just wanted to mention because a few people had speculated on the Leafs acquiring him, which I doubt will happen now.

He went from 2.875 to 3 mil so no pay cut there though if you asked me a year ago, I thought he might be in line for much more on a multi year deal. It makes some sense for Stewart to do this because he's got the talent to prove last year was a fluke and sigh a bigger, better deal next summer. Maybe we'll see Kulemin go from 2.35 to around 2.5 mil on a one year deal too. - I'm assuming he's still young enough for another year of RFA though I might be wrong here.

Wouldn't they be getting a hefty return of picks for Weber from an offer sheet? I mean, I agree they should explore the market if it's going to happen but it wouldn't be for nothing if they couldn't put a deal together, could be 4 first round picks, granted they'd likely be low picks, still.

If a team successfully signed Suter and offer sheeted Weber, good lord, instant top pairing.

Or if a team signed Suter+Parise... that would be a pretty major haul as well.

Actually WIGWAL was correct.  He took a pay cut.  Last year he made $3.25 MIL, year before he made $2.5 MIL for a cap hit of $2.875 MIL.

Rumours I read was it was a possible sign and deal and that Stewart isn't needed with Backes, Crombeen and Reaves on the right side.

Detroit has the space for it I think, though Parise to LA wouldn't surprise me at all, but yeah, that would be a huge haul.

And maybe the only two decently aged impact players available ..

It's another lean UFA summer

Clearly not the same calibre as those two, no but nobody is talking about Hudler... If we move Kulemin or MacArthur, he could be a nice player in the top 6 along side Grabo I think.

If the team moves MacArthur, Hudler would be a logical target. Not so much Kulemin, though. If he's moved, the team would desperately need a top 6 winger with size and a willingness to use it.
