2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

The starting rotation could probably be doing better too.

True. It would be nice if the team was at least firing on one cylinder right now. With the talent on the roster, they can certainly turn this around - and quickly, at that - but, it's something that needs to happen sooner rather than later. As is so often said, you can't win a playoff spot in the first month of a season, but you can certainly lose one.

"J. Bautista grounded out to pitcher."

I wonder if he threw his bat. :)

Joey bats has only one more hit than Lind. Granted, two of hit hits are home runs....

Coming into today's game, Rajai Davis had a higher OPS than Encarnacion and Lind.

Look at Tampa's slow start last year. Weren't they marginally better than Boston and then missed out at the end?

Have they got a 2-out hit this season?  Nobody other than Reyes is hitting (Arencibia isn't doing too bad either).

Doesn't help that they haven't been turning DPs, have had tons of hits find their way through, etc.

Just not doing a lot right so far and not getting many breaks, either.

Speaking of Mr. Clutch, he just popped out to end the inning with E5 in scoring position. When the Jays have someone in scoring position with two outs, Lind is the LAST guy I want coming up.

The Rays had a pretty solid April last season - 15-8. Their problem was that from May through July, they were 3 games below .500.

They look so bad that I am completely certain they lose this game.

The lengthy rain delay doesn't help either.

Buehrle's looked good at least.  Should probably not even have any runs against, really.

He's struggled with his command a little (33 balls out of 76 pitches) but, he's battled and kept the team in the game. Certainly an encouraging sign for future starts.

Thanks - I don't know why, but for some reason I thought they had started the first couple weeks really poorly - they started 5-6 but that really isn't all that bad.

I just checked - it was 2011, where they started 1-8.

And induced ground balls that should have resulted in outs that have led to runs against.  He's had some bad luck in the results so far.  I still love how quick he goes.

And actually made the playoffs.

By one game. They were fortunate that the Red Sox collapsed in the September of that season. That being said, the BoSox also started 2-10 that season.

Rasmus is making good contact this season when he actually hits the ball. If he could start doing that with a little more consistency, that could be a big boost the Jays offence.

Doesn't matter, had playoffs.  Yeah, I'm just saying you need to look at playing well in the big picture of an MLB season, rather than fretting too much over a 2-week span.  This gets a lot of attention because it's the start of the season, more than it would likely get in the middle of a season.  Especially now with the 2nd wildcard.

I know he isn't hitting great, but damn I love watching Rasmus.

He's now 5 for 13 with 4 extra base hits in ABs where he doesn't strike out. If he can cut down on the Ks . . .

In spectacular fashion. Got my years mixed up, and thus the argument goes phhhhht. :)

I'd really like Rasmus to work out. Really. All that potential....

And Buehrle gives back the run the Jays just picked up. :(
