2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Kawasaki!  Another Huge hit!

And credit where it's due to JPA and Bonifacio who both FINALLY produced some key offense.  JP's pinch hit single in the 9th and Bonifacio walking plus the double in the 7th was big.

Sooo Brett Lawrie will be back after the All Star break, and he's playing 2B in Buffalo.

So who gets demoted? Kawasaki again? Bonifacio?

It should be Bonifacio. He's a dud.

Agreed but they seem to give this guy chance after chance after chance.  Based on how much AA gushed about him when they made that trade, I can see why he won't give up on him.  But he should be the one to go.

I don't like anything about his game other than speed.  I think he goofs around too much for a guy who makes that many mistakes and is that bad at the plate.  Kawasaki is as good a defender and is a big time energy guy who still manages to take everything seriously, and if nothing else has a solid at bat every time.

My guess is they like that he can play infield or outfield if they need him to. More versatile on the bench.

He reminds me of a less talented (power-wise anyway) Scutaro. They can both battle at the plate, are pretty solid defensively and are pretty good club house/team energy guys.

If only Kawasaki could find the gap more often...

I think this is the reason why Potvin.

The Jays don't expect to sign 1st round pick Phil Bickford by tomorrow afternoon's deadline. Apparently, the issue is not money. The Jays will get the 11th overall pick in next year's draft, but, Bickford will be the only 1st round pick from this year's draft that did not sign.

3rd time this has happened in AA's five drafts. That is pretty alarming.

2nd in 4 drafts. He wasn't the GM for the 2009 draft when Paxton didn't sign. Disappointing, nonetheless. Not sure he's to blame so much as the appeal of playing for the Blue Jays is not what it once was.

Ah my mistake. I guess it's a general indictment of the club overall, then.

Like you said, very disappointing. Also another year of not having a top prospect develop, which really hurts as well.

The Jays will have another All-Star at Citi Field in NYC. Steve Delabar wins the vote for the final spot on the AL roster.

Not sure it means or says anything, but a last place team with 4 All-Stars is rather curious.

They have a record that would put them in 3rd or 4th in most divisions, and the ones that they'd be 4th in, it would be by a half game in most cases.

Keep in mind, 4 isn't too far fetched when 2 of those selections (Encarnacion and Cecil) were voted on by their peers and not by the fans.

I bet you could find other examples. Basically all you'd have to do is find a team, like the Jays, who have basically had no good performances by their starting pitchers.
