So what does the game being played under protest mean?

If a rule is applied incorrectly MLB has the authority to make a game get replayed from the time of the protest.  This won't apply as the rule was technically followed correctly as bad as it is.

Unless the thing about the ump calling time work in the Jays favour. Is there a rule that basically says if an ump incorrectly calls time a play that follows still counts?

Ok cool, thanks for that. Interesting rule.

In the sport I play, cricket, in a situation like that the runner wouldn't have taken the run as they call the "Spirit of the game" is followed and guys wouldn't take advantage of an error like that.

If they call a double play the Jays should walk off the field cos there's no point.

Between this and game 2's strike zones...

MLB basically has a rule for everything and anything. There are rules for every imaginable situation. Even the umps don't always know the correct rule - that's why a lot of teams keep a copy of the rulebook in the dugout. You just need to know what part of it to look in, and that's not always easy.

Revere was one of the last people I wanted up in that situation, and he had a pretty terrible result. But Donaldson is one of the players I'd most want up.
