Ultimately I think I'm still Team Hanifin but I suppose something marginal could be said about both Marner and Strome being from the GTA and, at least, knowing what the Leafs experience is about.

I'm in for Strome or Hanifin, whichever AZ passes on.  Should they surprise us and take Marner, I'd go for Strome I think.

Both Strome and Marner (Marner especially) have made no bones about it, they want to be Leafs. As did McDavid.  His expression when he was won by Edmonton looked like a lad being sold into slavery. All these boys grew ups tremendous Leaf fans

I gotta say...after a good hour of youtube highlights (makes me pretty much an expert) I think I would be most excited about marner.  Also I am intrigued by svechnikov with #24.  If the leafs ended up with another decent pick the other guy I would want is rantanen.  I haven't been blown away by barzal or zacha but I guess there were injuries there much like reilly.

and maybe an hour of youtube doesn't make me the scout I thought I was :-)

The Leafs need a GM before they can pick anyone.

Why? By all accounts the GM is still going to be answering to Shanahan. For better or worse, it really looks like Shanahan will be ultimately calling the shots when it comes to hockey matters. Whoever is nominally the GM will essentially be what a AGM is elsewhere.

Further to that, it's been widely reported that Mark Hunter basically has full control over the draft. Even if the Leafs did pick a GM tomorrow I doubt that would change.

Might be of interest to some.  This ranking averages out the rankings from 9 different sources (they are listed at the top): http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2015/6/5/8733437/averaged-2015-nhl-draft-ranking

I'm intrigued by Samsonov. I know it could be risky spending the 24th pick on him, but I like the idea of grabbing the best goalie in the draft.

If the Leafs take Marner as they seem to be telegraphing then I am almost certain they draft a Centre with the 2nd pick.  Although if they trade Kessel, Phaneuf or some of the others that we may end up with another 1st rounder..lets at least hope so.

Bob McKenzie's final rankings released:

Has it going Hanifin-Marner-Strome after the big-2. Kylington is in the 24 spot.

Interesting he's got Crouse at 7, before Barzal and Provorov.

It's funny when you click on the names and get the full scouting report.  They have a "Rank and Scouting Report" with scores out of 5 for various attributes including "Compete Level".

I'd be pretty jazzed by Marner and Kylington.

You live in a cold climate ? Canada, say.  You have a house that needs fixing.  It's damned cold come December, January.  Your fairly rich uncle died and left you $8k.  You can buy a furnace, which is much needed.  But it snows a lot here, too, and man, that Arctic Cat would be sooooo much fun.

What do you do?

Strome is a furnace.  Marner is a snowmobile.

I'll wager $2,000 Alex.

What is poor analogies?

You're saying Marner wouldn't help the team?
