2016-2017 Waivers Thread

#Isles will be placing PA Parenteau on waivers today, according to a source. Certainly a surprise there.

Certainly a pretty big surprise as far as waivers go. Every Isles line-up prediction I saw, even as early as this morning, had him playing with Ladd and Tavares on the top line.

He's on a 1-year, $1.25mil contract.

I'd actually consider claiming him and waiving Michalek instead.

Scott Wedgewood was also placed on waivers today by the Devils. 24-year old goalie from Brampton. In 22 AHL games last year he put up a 0.933 save percentage and 1.55 GAA going 14-3-3. Another guy who I would probably put a claim in for if waiving his replacement wasn't an issue.

As we suspected, sources say #nhljets will put Ondrej Pavelec on waivers today

This one's big. Pavelec was seriously holding the Jets back from being a really good hockey team and it didn't seem like their coaches knew it. Handing the reigns to Hellebuyck could make them a playoff team.

That's a weird one re: Pap. Maybe it means they had some kids play better than expected or something but I really thought he'd be on that team.

TSNBobMcKenzie: DET puts Teemu Pulkkinen on waivers.
MTL puts Mike Condon on waivers

JonathanWillis: Teemu Pulkkinen is 24.
2014-15 (AHL): 46GP, 34G, 61 PTS
2015-16 (NHL): 36GP, 6G, 12 PTS
Gotta claim that guy.

This is the guy to claim.

Agreed.  Him and/or Condon.

The Wings also just lost 23-year old Martin Frk to Carolina via waivers the other day too. Frk scored 27 goals in 67 games last year in the AHL. But hey, you just gotta keep those 4th line scrubs on your roster. So long, playoff streak.

Why would you claim Condon?

Younger than Enroth, improves our overall goalie pool depth, less pressure on Bibeau/Sparks to ensure NHL readiness next season after Enroth's contract expires.  I just think Condon would be useful longer than Enroth as a backup.

Enroth's got some history as a successful NHL backup though. If you need another back-up next summer you can either re-sign Enroth or go bargain hunting like they did this year.

Finding a goalie better than Michael Condon should never really be that hard. How the Habs couldn't do it last season is beyond me.

Oh I know.  Just thought it would be cool to have a Price mentored goalie.

Brian Hayward rides again.

A reasonable argument can be made that there are 3 of those on waivers with him right now.

(It's "reins".)
