2018-19 Trade Talk

Jensen, as a RHD, was naturally linked to the Leafs - so I suppose he's off the table.

Washington gives up Bowey and a 2nd. Probably more than the Leafs would have considered.

Never understood why the Leafs were linked to Jensen or any other D right now. None of the current top-6 defencemen are sitting, and the odds of any of them being shipped out are pretty slim.

Totally agree. Unless there's a major upgrade/trade coming, I really don't expect the Leafs to do much other then shore up the 4th line if they don't do it internally,(Moore, Bracco fill in the blank)

Still, Jensen was re-signed in Washington for 4yrs at 2.5 per. Seemed like a pretty good Hainsey replacement and cost controlled.

In the short term I'd much rather replace Hainsey with a minimum salary and use the spare money to try and keep both Kapanen and Johnsson.

I'm hoping Lilypad/Rosen can be that.

I thought Folin woulda looked good in a Leafs uniform.

I'm genuinely curious if he's related to you or something because the guy is on his 4th team in 3 years, and Philly had to retain $150k of his $800K salary on this 28 year old's expiring deal.  He has 2 points in 26 games this year.

I'm super curious, so what possibly do you see in this dump?

I think he'd be better than Zaitsev.  :-\

Hits, blocks shots, was a plus player on a crappy (before Hart) Flyers squad.

I'd rather dump Zaitsev, but here we are.

If you can move the Zaitsev contract, and let's be real that's a fair sized if at the moment, then that money should probably go towards looking for a Gardiner replacement(or a RHD version of a Gardiner replacement) if not making some sort of stab at actually re-signing Gardiner himself.

Fixed that for you.

Renaud Lavoie

@renlavoietva

Jake Gardiner skated only 10 minutes this morning and not available to the media right now @MapleLeafs

is this just from the back injury ??

Probably, yeah.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were being slightly extra cautious about Gardiner because they are open to the idea of trading him or maybe even exploring options but I don't think anything is imminent.

Not a trade, but Boston is gearing up by signing Lee Stempniak. He has to pass through waivers as he?s UFA, but apparently he?s been practicing with the team and their AHL squad all year.

Wonder where Stone ends up. I think he could make a huge difference to a contender picking him up. Will be interesting to see how much Sens get back in the trade

I'm surprised Nashville hasn't made a substantial move. They've got cap space and you have to figure they're near a point where just making another run with the same group isn't going to cut it.

Problem last year was Renne crapped the bed against the Jets. I'm sure Poile is looking tho.
