2020 Trade Deadline Activity

Chris Johnston said that the motivation behind the Trochek deal is that the Panthers have been ordered to cut payroll for next season.

Which, you know, makes a ton of sense after handing out a giant free agent contract last year.

Hockey in the south.  It works!

If only the brilliant business owners who are super smart by virtue of being rich had some way of knowing that revenues might be low.

Who knew that a team where you can get ice level seats to a Leafs game on the resale market for 50 bucks isn?t going to be able to absorb big contracts

Marleau is Cup chasing, I wonder if Thornton tries too now?  I still say Boston would make most sense for him

Marleau to Pens

For a 3rd round pick.

Marleau has 20 points in 58 games playing top-6 hockey in San Jose. 9 points in his last 35 games. That's a stupid return. Especially since there was probably only a handful of teams Marleau would have accepted a trade to.

Even sillier.

They're gonna win the Cup with him getting 11 minutes a game and scoring like 5 points and some people will try to say this move pushed them over the edge.

It sounds bad as a "3rd round pick" but a pick in the 80-100 range can probably be picked up at the draft by trading down with your second rounder a few spots so...eh.

I don't understand this mentality.  How much pride can you have playing for a team for 3 months?

Then again most of these guys are about 1 cm deep.

I really don't see a problem with this at all honestly.

You form relationships quickly, and alot of these NHL guys all know each other these days too.  I know that when I start on a new project at work with people I've never worked with you fit right in after a few weeks and certainly after 1-2 months.
