Saving the scoring for when it really counts, non?

Fair point.
I didn't realize they scored it like that. Can you really hold goalies accountable for goals when they're on the bench?

Probably should have waited until Calgary played their 82nd game to post that (and award the trophy). They ended up tied in non-EN goals, so, EN goals allowed became a tiebreaker,

There is a certain logic to it being a tie-breaker. While EN goals aren't a goalie's fault exactly, a team is only in the position to allow an empty net goal because they've already given up enough goals to be behind in a game so they are sort of a collective responsibility.

Byfuglien quit. Maurice quit. They blamed Kane (warranted). They blamed Laine (hmmmm).

I'm super confused as to what's going on. Are we wondering about the GMs role in this?

Cheveldayoff has been the GM since June 2011.  They did get to the Conference Finals in 2017-2018 but they have 16 playoff wins in his 11 seasons as GM.

The Leafs who are the biggest chokers in the history of the NHL also have 16 playoff wins over that 11 season stretch.

Might be a bit tougher attracting/keeping players in Winnipeg.  That's a tough market, and they definitely don't have the resources of much bigger market organizations.

EDIT:  Although I just had a peek at their drafting over the past 3-4 years, and it looks a little lousy.

He stood stoically beside Shanahan and managed not to cry when the Leafs got the #1 overall pick in 2016 though, that's gotta count for something.
