Should be room to add another D in the likes of Zadorov, Walker, Carrier, maybe Roy. Someone $5m and under if Tanev gets done at $4-$4.5m.

That's $13mil in cap space still. Let's say $5mil for Zadorov and $1.5mil for Talbot. We still have $6.5mil for a 6D, a 3C, and then additional depth if you go over the minimum roster. That seems doable. Also assuming no cap clearing trades like Jarnkrok or Kampf. Dewar, Robertson, and Liljegren still as RFAs floating around. Cowan still an option. Not bad I guess.

Yeah was just looking. Even just replacing Kampf with Dewar and re-signing Bertuzzi to a similiar discounted rate ($4.25mil) would still leave about $3.75mil for a 3C and 6D. Probably not enough to get an ideal 3C but I don't really know what the options are there anyway.

I enjoyed having a Domi as a Leaf again and he actually slightly surpassed my expectations.

So even if he slightly regresses I think this is a good deal.

I think early on he put too much pressure on himself but as the year went on he got better so hopefully he can start well this season

Domi outscored him 47 points to 43. 44 points to 35 at 5-on-5. And 2.73 points/60 at 5-on-5 (one of the highest rates in the league) to 1.88. That's all despite playing less minutes in the top-6 than Bertuzzi did: Bertuzzi played 547 5-on-5 minutes with Tavares and 322 with Matthews while Domi was 206 with Matthews and 73 with Tavares.

Neither are good defensive players, although Bertuzzi probably gets the edge there by default. Domi has the big bonus of being able to play any forward position. While I doubt he'll be playing C primarily it's nice to have that ability in a pinch. Domi's also the faster player, by a considerable margin.

I think Bertuzzi underperformed offensively this season and still has 30 goal/30 assist potential which is higher than Domi's offensive potential probably so I get why some might rank Bert ahead. But it's close I think.
