2021 Marlies Thread

Frickin lasers

But his hunched stride is going to get him hurt.

I think I can recall someone saying that if you can score a point per game by age 20, you?ll be a pretty good NHLer. I think Kadri was in that range. Robertson looks like he should be able to do some damage in the NHL if he can stay healthy.

Pontus is absolutely the Swedish equivalent of Connor, and Holmberg means islet mountain, both of which are absolutely brown.

Well the Marlies bummed out, losing the two last of the season.  God help us if for any reason we have to call up Hutch.  Robertson scored in the loss yesterday.

That's 3 straight seasons now where Greg Moore hasn't been able to get the Marlies in a playoff position. I know success isn't exactly the most important thing in the AHL and obviously like Keefe he kinda took over at a weird time with covid interruptions but that's still disappointing. I've seen some AHL observers who haven't exactly been super big fans of his either. He supposedly made Joey Duszak, the teams 2nd leading scorer and 2nd highest scoring defenceman in the league, a healthy scratch in the teams final do-or-die regular season game. Maybe more information will come out explaining that one day but it certainly seems like an eyebrow raising decision. Wonder if they look to make a change their this offseason.

Yes, he is a bit of a mess. He has an existing relationship with Marlies GM Ryan Hardy, and was part of the Chicago Steel experimental machine of success. Maybe Moore can't coach the Leafs structure -- the Marlies are supposed to be prepping players as plug and play options with the big club.

Lots of NHL coaching vacancies will probably pull most of the old boys into contention (Mark Crawford, Jeff Blashill, etc.). A fun move (that probably won't work) is maybe pushing Malhotra into Marlies HC and bringing AJ McLean up back to Keefe's side. Most of the Leaf callups will be in the bottom-6 anyway, so that's where I see an internal fit.

Another option is moving Wellwood up to the Marlies and handing the Growlers over to Danielle Goyette full time (if she wants such a thing).

Let?s see who this guy is? RD depth is always nice? oh 46 pts? in 27 games played?!

He finished the season with 62 pts (11G/51A) in 36 games played! He finished second in scoring on the team, following Zach O'Brien (78 pts in 53 games).

The Growlers are heading into the Eastern Conference finals today. Finkelstein has racked up 20 pts (5G/15A) in their 14 playoff games so far.

This is quite cool purely because his dad, Mark - also a goalie, was the first ever player to sign for the Belfast Giants and so was the first ever pro hockey player to sign in Ireland.

I enjoy these wee links between my two teams  ;D

Eventually they have to sign someone who succeeds.

Right now their organizational depth chart:

Jack Campbell - UFA
Petr Mrazek - 2 years/3.8M
Erik Kallgren - 1 year/750K
Joseph Woll - 3 years/767K
Ian Scott - RFA

Vyacheslav Peksa - Russia
Artur Akhtyamov - Russia

Keith Petruzzelli - 1 year AHL deal
Luke Cavallin - 2 year AHL deal

Michael Hutchinson - UFA
Carter Hutton - UFA

I?d sign 20 if I could and then farm them out for team spots.

Surely one will hit
I think one of these guys is going to hit. Some very good prospects here. I've read nothing but good things about Cavillan. Petruzelli looks good as well and we're going to find out about McKay this season. His numbers in the NCAA are pretty impressive.

He changed agents and signed with Milstein recently if I recall correctly.

Read that today. Too bad it didn't work with the Leafs. Enjoyed watching him play with the Marlies tho. Good luck to him!
