Lost to Tampa in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2 straight years. If you can't beat em, join em.

Fax machine was broken?

Lou found a guy with sideburns and had to take him to the barber for a hot steam shave.

All the forwards I would have considered to sign on the left side (Granlund, Schwartz, Saad, Coleman, Foligno, Hoffman) signed for more than I thought and longer than I thought. Maybe giving up Hallander to keep Kerfoot wasn't that bad of an idea.

Let me check with the boys in the lab....nope, still a bad idea. They still think you'd rather have the team's best C prospect and Hoffman at maybe slightly more than is ideal than Kerfoot.

Ya, I'm with Nik here...I think you could replace Kerfoot much more easily than you can replace a good'ish C prospect like Hallander...the Leafs are pretty lacking in C prospects.

It really bothers me that they went and paid $1.5m for Kampf, who is an offensive black hole...like that's the kind of player (defensive centre) that you'd think the super funded Marlies should be able to generate for the big club.

I'll take Hallander and Saad or Hoffman plus the 500K cap savings over Kerfoot and Kampf any day of the week.
Oh and our centre depth is absolutely atrocious. Engvall 3C and Kempf/Brooks 4C next year is a little frightening to me...

I mean our center depth is even worse if you lose Kerfoot and Kampf and sign Saad/Hoffman (neither of whom are centers)

Kerfoot/Kampf = 5M in cap space
Saad or Hoffman = 4.5M in cap space

So you would have 500K (league minimum is 750K) to upgrade C but you also lost part-time center in Kerfoot and Kampf.

Actually the Leafs would have an extra 500K to upgrade C, not limited to. But you're also assuming I would have made all of the other moves Dubas made too. #3C would have been my top priority, not Mrazek (and certainly not at nearly 4 million). Kerfoot has shown he isn't a centre and Kampf is barely a #4.

If it makes you guys feel any better Hallander is a winger.

Really?

LW/C, yeah. Looks like his SHL team doesn?t feel he?s good enough to stick down the middle, which makes it unlikely he would in the NHL.

I don't know. A young kid playing in the Swedish league might get put there because it fits their needs better. They're not a developmental part of the organization and if he were a Marlie and they made the decision I'd put more stock in it.

Either way, I'd still rather have him and Hoffman than Kerfoot.

I know some people disagree but all these extensions for young stars just make me feel better about the Marner deal.

Is it just me or are young D getting disproportionately high cap hits vs forwards right now?
