2021 Offseason Moves

Lou is starting to move now, so I'm guessing the trade he was working on will either be announced soon, or has fallen through.

5.75M x 8 years for their shutdown 1LD is exceedingly good for NYI. Last two years might be touchy, but whatevs. Not sure why the player and agent went with it though.

He's a 27-year old (in 2 weeks) defenceman that provides little-to-no offence (maybe a symptom of the Islanders system) and is coming off one great defensive season (also maybe a symptom of the Islanders system). I think this is probably a fair contract, especially in a world where defencemen prices have gone bonkers, but I'm not really sure why many are acting like this is a downright steal.

Am I the only one who found watching Thornton last year kinda sad? I really didn?t think he had another year in him.

I liked Thornton when he had the puck on his stick. I could count on him to make a good play. I think he needed the puck on his stick to show his worth but that was too few and far between.

Didn't have the speed to change the game when he didn't have the puck. I didn't mind his tenure with the club. Obvious I think he's done at this point.

There were definitely flashes of old Joe, but unfortunately too much of Old Joe as well.

If we'd had him 2 years earlier...

Sam Reinhart got $6.5m X 3yrs. the other day to become Florida's highest paid forward!

Because a player who had accomplished less on his ELC got paid less on his next contract? Blerg.
