Not to take away from him because he is awesome but it's against Austria and it's 11-1, shots are 54-20 with 13:13 to go.  It's nothing more then shinny hockey here...

Yeah, it's the World Juniors,  we all know it's how it goes, players pick up a lot of points. But it's impressive, just like when Gretzky scored 3 in an 8-0 win against West Germany at age 16.
 
Austria has 6 17 year olds and 9 19 year olds on the roster so it isn't the oldest roster in the tournament but it's still 4 goals.  That doesn't happen often at any level.  He's the 6th Canadian player to do it in the World Juniors.
 
Yeah, considering that nobody else on the team, including some 19 year old 1st rounders, scored 4 goals I don't think this is an accomplishment anyone needs to "Well, actually..."

I still don't see how he's rated to go #1 overall. Maybe I was expecting too much but I've seen him play live and wasn't impressed at all. Very good player but nothing that made me go wow.

On top of the missing time with the OHL shutdown, his game sounds like it would work better in a pro structure, rather than a lot of solo pop (a la Laine). Tavares-lite perhaps.

The fact that there wasn't even an attempt at a true bubble was just straight up insane. I'm so tired at the lack of competence and willpower here. My gf ran a quarantine hotel and none of the staff got sick. I don't have patience for this kind magical thinking anymore.
 
As with everything else Alberta has done since the pandemic began, this "plan" to hold the tournament basically seemed to be close your eyes and hope Covid just goes away.

Considering this, I think that the IIHF and Hockey Canada did a pretty good job of protecting and insulating the teams. 
 
Pulling the chute was the right call for the situation.

What IIHF and Edmonton can be blamed for skimping on the measures and protocols required to ensure the teams and the players were properly insulated from the public and one another in the event of a breakthrough. The environment they set up made all the players' and staff members' sacrifices of locking themselves down to play for naught.
