They kicked the Czech team off as well but they didn't do anything and were simply mistaken because if similar coats.
The Finns made it home though.

Well, I guess we can bump this thread in August.

The entirety of the tourney is to be played/replayed in August in Alberta.

That was quick!

I know there isn't a ton of interest in this tournament in the middle of the summer, but Canada plays Finland tonight at 6pm.

It's sort of the perfect storm of not giving a crap about the tourney. I know it's unfair in a lot of ways to the guys playing but there's no getting around that this is a Hockey Canada product we're supposed to be cheering for. It's the damage being done to the brand itself that, to say nothing of the moral imperative, requires a near-total turnover at the top of the organization. Until that happens, I'm ambivalent at best to Canada winning one of these tournaments.

I'm rooting for Finland at this point, but realistically I just want to see the Leafs prospects do well.

I don't know why, but I stopped caring about this tournament a long, long time ago.

The 2005 WJC was a big one for me where you got to see what an actual U20 championship would look like. Since then I've always sort of relegated it to like the World Championships where it was less about which country was actually better and more about sort of the random luck of roster construction based on which players were available.

I remember being thrilled to sit down and watch the US-Canada game to open the tournament every year.

The sex assault stuff has me with absolutely no interest in this tournament but I think for me life/family gets in the way.  I have less time to watch things and I would rather watch the Leafs if I'm watching hockey than watch a best-on-best tournament where half the best stars aren't there because in an U-20 tournament the best 18-19-20 year olds are already in the NHL.

Game-saving save by MacTavish in OT before Canada scored the winner. [emoji44]

Still not overly invested in the outcome but honestly that play, given the context of the situation and everything, has to be somewhere in the top 5 of, like, most incredible plays of all time in any sport. I'm trying to even think of a comparable and coming up pretty blank. It's like if Lebron's block on Iguodala had been with time expiring or Kawhi's shot had won the title.
