2024-25 General Trades and Signings

He was a UFA who re-signed with his team. Predators were buyers at the March trade deadline.
There may have been media rumors due to his UFA status
I'm sure there were teams asking about him, too. It's unlikely it went past that. He certainly wasn't "about to be traded."

I also can't write Barron off as an AHLer just yet. He's still young, has size, skill, and potential. Defencemen take longer, and, at 23, he still has time. I don't think he'll amount to much, but I can easily see him becoming a similarly valued player to Carrier - capable of holding down a spot as a #4, but ideally a bottom pair guy.

Right now, I feel the MTL D is clearly better with RH Carrier than it was with Barron.
Does it get them closer to a Cup? I don't think so. But it can help them short term (though I might like the better draft position instead).

Writing off 23 year old dmen with decent qualities on a bad team is too soon for my liking.
Teams can get burned with transactions like that. Odds are, he's a bottom pairing dman who might be a top 4.
3 years from now, odds are Nashville has a decent young dman while Carrier heads to free agency or trade for a 3rd/4th/5th.
