2024-25 NHL Thread

One of the Molson family came over last night to watch the Habs Sens match at my place. Based on what he told me....the Habs are going to be a force over next 5 to 10 years. He told me about their scouting system which has a scout in Russia to get guys like Demidov, and scouts all over the world.

They have so many prospects coming up, and multiple draft picks.

They have kept salaries super reasonable with the line drawn at Suzuki (to frame expectations for the rest of the team) at $7.875m. He told me Habs management went to Suzuki and asked for permission to acquire Laine at $8.7m and Suzuki was ok with that because it wasn't the Habs who had signed the original contract. So the entire architecture by ownership and management has been responsibly built.

The Habs are a tough team, and well ahead in their rebuild plans... there was no expectations to make the playoffs this season but looks like they may clinch very soon.....even tonight against the Leafs.

And he told me because their cupboards are so full with assets and picks....they may make a play for Crosby. Play him with Demidov. Management thinks Crosby and Pittsburgh will go for it because Crosby doesn't want to go to a team with a major star that he plays second fiddle too, and also Crosby wants to help Pittsburgh rebuild, which the Habs will be able to help with an abundance of trade assets.

It's no wonder the Habs were the last Canadian team to win the Cup. Excellent ownership and Management....and they went to the dance in 2021.

Yes yes Hutson and Demidov will sign for cheap too.

Just a quick addition to your post, LK - if St Louis wins their remaining game in regulation, they clinch, regardless of what Calgary does. Best Calgary could do is tie them in RW but would trail in ROW.

Oh man the Habs are going to suck to play against for the next decade. Washington better sort out their play after Ovechkin got his scoring record because they looked like crap against Columbus.

Wow a Tyler Bertuzzi mid-range PP goal

I think it good that Ottawa and Montreal are turning the corner. That means the Leafs stop playing down to them.

Montreal loses in the shootout. Oh man
Montreal got a lucky bounce to tie it up.
Montreal needs a point against Carolina to clinch or if
Columbus fails to win their last two games in regulation.
Heavy odds favor Montreal getting in.

Panthers lost to the Rangers so their upcoming game with the Lightning seems meaningless for the Panthers.

Let's go Columbus..... do it for Johnny Hockey!

That Habs Hawks shoot out was hilarious..... the first goal went in but no one seemed to see it actually go in.

I've seen many pucks get stuck between the webbing and the top bar, but I've never seen nobody notice. Where did they think the puck went? Back to the future? Lol. It was hilarious. I guess the goal judges really are homies. :D

It tricked me too bc I watched the goal and thought it was either saved or was lifted over the glass.

Great to watch the Habs fans face when they were down to one shot left and realized the first guy had scored!

Damn Blake Bolden is smoke show 🔥

Yeah, I didn't realize anything was amiss either, but the guys on the ice should have. And the goal judge lol, the puck was staring the goal judge in the face - from inside the net. Oh well, it was amusing.

Habs gifted with a late PP. Kid looks good but his back check on the Hawks 3rd goal was brutal.
