I don't know Bacon but he at least had Victor Johansson ranked: 1263rd overall
Someone else said he didn't crack their top 1000

I'm as big of a numbers guy as anyone, but TopDownHockey's draft rankings are virtually useless. It's just points, age, weight, height. Genuinely couldn't find a ranking I would put less stock in.

Good. Thx

Notes that the HockeyProspect.com aka the draft whisperers who pumped the tires of Knies and Cowan before anyone else did, had him ranked 87th in their rankings.

Pronman had him ranked 119th in his rankings with the Athletic:

Mayes is a tall defenseman who had a solid rookie WHL season for Spokane. His athleticism is highly intriguing given he's quite mobile for his size. He's strong, wins puck battles and plays with some bite. He shows some flashes with the puck, but Mayes isn't a natural puck-mover. His ability to carry pucks up is NHL caliber though. He has a chance to take real steps next season and look like a pro defenseman.

Obvintsev's scouting report on MLHS was kind of borderline cray-cray. He sounds like a human rubber band or something.  Intriguing to say the least.
