Linus Eriksson (C) drafted with our 2nd pick.

Leafs traded the pick immediately before it was due, so it was actually Florida who took him:

I do not understand how that is a good deal for the Leafs. Is 2025 draft that much better? Supposedly, some say it is better.

Leafs haven't got time to draft & develop a dman or goalie to play significantly on their roster during Matthews window but a 2024 2nd round forward might have ...

I'm not positive on that but it sure isn't very clear cut to me under the teams circumstances.

Now we have at least a pick in the first 4 rds of 2025.

One presumes our top target was swiped ahead of 58.

The circumstances are the Leafs didn't have any picks in rounds 1-4 next year. This trade almost certainly doesn't happen if it wasn't for that. Or if there was someone at 58 who they absolutely loved, which presumably there wasn't.

Again I wish they got more to punt it down a year but I get the logic behind the move.

Would the 2nd be a better chip at the 2025 trade deadline than trading the prospect they picked (obviously depending on who it was)? That's the only thing I can think of.

Yes, I definitely think it would be.

Interesting possibility as we get closer to 120. Kiviharju missed the entire season with an injury and obviously fell down the rankings because of that. He was still ranked in the top-60 by a lot of people it seems, and some still had him as a late 1st rounder.

He's also pretty small...Talented though. I would grab him with a 4th.

Aron is quite small, but sturdy

Strengths

    Skating
    Decision-making
Ability to process the game quickly
    Passing
    Stick-handling
    Puck-moving ability
He's listed at 5'10 now and could def add some weight. Worth a chance. McKeens hockey had him ranked lowest at 45.

Victor Johansson LD

He is a bean pole at 5?11? 137lbs on NHL data, but 6?1? 143lbs on EP.

That's, uh, something. Can't find anything on him in any rankings. He wasn't even on Corey Pronman's full mock draft.

Swedish junior league, so basically no public data. Two-way mobile defenseman is the EP?s player type tags on him. Cousin of Alex Wennberg.
