In the same vein that Santiago Espinal is an all star, Vladdy has a gold glove. But seriously, that award sometimes goes to "name" players with cache. Vladdy's Defensive Runs Saved Above Average in his time with Toronto is -9. (His gold glove year it was +3). So for one year he was barely above average, based on that lone metric (and for the record, his d-WAR that gold glove year was -0.7)

Defensive metrics for 1B aren't all that great/reliable.

Vladdy played 100 innings at 3rd base. I respect his versatility.

Seems like he wants to play on the West Coast. Hopefully money can persuade him. I'm not holding my breath though as the team is definitely paying a lot of money for inefficient players as it is.
As much as the rotation was a strength in the past, Gausman's strikeout numbers are dropping off and Bassitt is probably not a top half of rotation starter any more.

If Burnes joins the Jays they will have one of the best rotations in baseball. TO starters have been successful. There is probably some allure there.

The Orioles are known for being extra (potentially overly) cautious when it comes to reading physicals. The Braves wanted him as a starter, which could impact the way they looked at the results of their physical.

Not to say that there isn't anything to worry about, but I wouldn't get too worked up about these reports.

Reportedly, the Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Giants, and Diamondbacks have all been told their out of the running. Not that I expect him to end up with the Jays.

EDIT: Cubs are out, too. Out of the teams it's known he met with, it's down to the Padres, Dodgers, and Jays (and, as always, the dreaded mystery team).

The Braves offer was a 5 year deal too so insurance would be different and if they were looking at him trying out as a starter again, it makes things look different. If his arm is dead in May I think we can start to criticize this move but Hoffman has been one of the best relievers in baseball the last few years.

I still think Sasaki ends up in LA but man it would be a coup if they got him. Not only is he potentially a future #1 starter but he would be cost controlled. That would go a long way to helping them extend Vlad.
