Ben Scrivens

Ben Scrivens shutout today in his first start for the Kings.  Only other appearance was 14 minutes of shutout mop up duty coming in for Quick.  So he has yet to be scored on in a King's uniform, happy for him.

Scrivens has gone 156 minutes, 2 seconds without allowing a goal over three games.

He's doing an excellent impression of Brian Boucher.

That's the apt comparison, I think.  A crazygood run, but an outlier.

Although I hasten to add I like the guy and like others, wish him the best.

Now Gus Monster is putting up great numbers and saving the Wings ass,  Ben, James and Gus,  what pisses me is we  could still have had Frattin.

Frattin is doing little to nothing with LA.  Gustavsson was hot and cold with the Leafs and was one of the "bad goalies" that people say was the downfall of Ron Wilson.  "Wilson wasn't a bad coach, he just had bad goalies".  Well, Gustavsson was one of those bad goalies.  Scrivens was a good backup for the Leafs but not much more than that.  It's easy to look on guys performing well now and lament that we should still have them, but if they weren't performing in their time with the Leafs....

I'd still like to see Matt on our third line instead of McClement whom should be fourth for sure. But what the hay, it will be interesting to follow some of these guys down the road.

McClement is valuable in killing penalties and winning draws, I don't think Frattin would fit the same role.

Exactly, McClement is valuable on the fourth line for that very purpose as a centre that he is, Matt was a winger and had the speed and hitting ability and did show some scoring prowess. In any case his gone.

Sucks that Bolland is out, what can you do?  He was the perfect #3C, his injury has screwed up the center position.

Well he didn't say McClement shouldn't be on the team.  Playing on the 4th line you can still kill penalties and win draws.

Honestly, Frattin's no big loss. In LA, he's looked more like the disappointing version of him we saw after he returned from knee surgery than the guy that showed any scoring prowess. He's really been another run-of-the-mill 3rd liner, and he's injured again.
