This was brought up in the Babcock thread, but I think it's about to become a bigger story since TSN's reporting on it includes two other players who confirm Aliu's story.

Seems pretty unlikely that three players would all lie about this.

So, you know, we should prepare ourselves for some people objecting to Peters losing his freedom of speech or what have you.

When asked why he waited nearly 10 years to step forward, Aliu pointed to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a reason to stay quiet.

?This isn?t me being bitter. I sat on this a really, really long time. It broke my heart, I think it made my career go downhill before it started,? Aliu said. ?This isn?t to the degree of Kaepernick by any means, but if you play the race card, it?s most likely the end of your career.?

Aliu said he did not confront Peters at the time of the incident, nor in the private meeting that followed in Peters? office.

?What am I going to say? I was 20 years old and a first-year pro. I was too scared to speak up,? Aliu said. ?I beat myself up every day over it.?

Good on them for acting quickly on it. Can't help but wonder if they would have absent the bad start though.

Yeah, it seemed like his job was hanging on by a thread anyway.

Further evidence for me that hockey is littered with scumbag losers.

The whole thing perpetrated by Don Cherry about how Hockey players were great people by virtue of being hockey players and wearing suits to games is one of those things that really needs to die a quick death.

Treliving didn?t want to can Peters because it would be letting the players off the hook. This sort of takes the decision out of everyone?s hands.

To be fair, every walk of life is littered with scumbag losers. Just goes to show hockey isn't immune to it.

Have they not read the Seravelli article yet?

I wonder how much of this is about covering themselves in case of a lawsuit. Like, he's definitely going to be let go, but they need to document some stuff.

That's possible, yeah. This is different from being fired for performances reasons of course.

Especially if, and I have no idea if this is the case, but if you're firing him for reasons beyond on-ice performance then potentially you may not have to pay him the balance of his deal.

Yeah. This one is potentially more complicated than your standard coach being relieved of duties. There's potential for defamation of character suits, wrongful dismissal, etc. They have to do their due diligence here.

This is what I'm thinking.

Shawn Simpson deleted this tweet. Which is weird because was he like "oh wait crap no there was that one guy"?
