Lines from Paul Hendrick:

JVR-Bozak-Clarkson
Winnik-Kadri-Kessel
Komarov-Santorelli-Holland
Panik-Carrick-Ashton

1) I absolutely love how the media still lists Bozak as the first line.
2) I'm a little surprised that Carrick got the call-up. Still think that he's just a guy who had a good training camp and that's it. Hopefully he works out here though.

I find that a bit odd too, but the Bozak line played 20 min to Kessel's 12 yesterday.

There's more parity in the top 9 in terms of skill, so the Leafs can't really be traditionally numbered. Carlyle clearly trusts Bozak and Phaneuf to be the 'shutdown' line as they were deployed against Johansen's last night. I like how they look without Kessel, as they play a simpler power forward possession game now, rather than unsustainable back-and-forth fast breaks.

As I had hoped, Carlyle is starting to use Kadri/Kessel to exploit bottom-six mismatches, generating more chances in fewer minutes now. Ideally, a Holland/Ashton group will also start to do the same once Booth and Lupul return to push more skill into the 4th line.

I didn't see all of his play last year with the Marlies but from all accounts he's been playing very well since about mid season last year.

Is Leivo injured? I thought he'd be the best fit into the 2nd line...?

I think Winnik's 3-point night earned him another game or two. Otherwise yeah I would have called up Leivo for that spot as well.

Does it really matter who is listed as the first center.
The press has the JVR-Bozak-Clarkson line as the first who cares. IMO Bozak has 10 pts, Kadri has 4 Pts this  is way Bozak is listed as the 1st line center.

Carrick has already done more than Frattin on the year.  That was a nice push to get the offensive play and then he gets taken out to draw a penalty.

The Leafs are actually playing well to start the game.  So out comes Glen Healy with a new approach to criticize something on the team.  Reimer doesn't deserve to start the game.
