Could?ve had at least 2 A if Domi and Robertson buried those looks

I thought we were going to have to go into the deadline with 22M in LTIR cap space to play with.

Was going to wonder out loud whether Bertuzzi would ever score again?

Hope this wasn't McMann's Boyd Devereaux moment ..
They're both tied with Nylander for career hat tricks with the Leafs
(I think Sittler leads with 19)

Rielly is a point away from tying Tim Horton for 3rd all time Leafs scoring by a dman.

You nailed it with your earlier posts about McMann cw. He certainly looks like a goal scorer in tight defensive situations . I want to see more of him on the 1st or 2nd line.

Happened in practice..supposed to be day by day but something changed.

Jarnkrok was initially expected to miss 3-4 weeks (Kampf was injured around the same time and he was the day to day one).

Going on LTIR will keep him out for a minimum of another 5 games, which puts his earliest return next Saturday against Colorado. That's a week and a half away and 4 weeks since his injury.

It was also likely necessary the Leafs needed the cap space to make a full roster with Rielly, Tavares, and Marner all out last night.

He's been learning a different role. On the Marlies, he was top 6, PP, etc.
With the Leafs, 4th line. Less than 10 mins/game, no PP.

What has been encouraging to me is his play away from the puck. He's learning that role. He's starting to get into lanes and blocking shots (which he was having trouble with at the start of the season). He's catching on to their system - looking less out of place and more comfortable - seems to know and anticipate better where he has to position himself or go. He still has room for improvement there. He's growing into the role and starting to branch out to do what he did with the Marlies offensively. He's a work in progress. Hits/60 he's behind only Reaves - he has decent size and uses it. He played center so if he needs to take a faceoff, he can help there. He'll fight if he has to. He looks like he's recovered from his knee injury - he's skating pretty well. In the playoffs, his style of scoring could help - he'll muck it in like he did last night on the 1st goal or he can grab a loose puck and snipe it in like the 2nd goal. He should be getting some time on the 2nd PP. He'll go to the front of the net and tip it in or win some scrums. Nothing slick like Marner or Nylander. But he can finish.

He's been on the scrap heap. It would be fun to see him get a little reward. It has been a long, tough journey for him. I love his attitude: be ready for whatever ...

Is it coincidental that Reilly wasn?t in the lineup for Brodie?s stellar play?

Playing the left side help him?

I started the "Brodie should be back on LD" train a month ago. It'll be tough to keep him there once Rielly returns though, unless Treliving finally makes a move.

If they got a RH dman to play with Rielly, I wonder if Brodie on the left and McCabe on the right would work? I know McCabe seems to prefer the left side but he's playing the right with Benoit.

A rejuvenated Brodie could be a pretty big deal. They'd just have one hole to fill.

You know for all the shit people would give nylander for his salary and his effort/production compared to the almost nothing you hear about Bertuzzi and his salary/production is puzzling.

Might have to do with being one of the highest paid players in the league. People probably expect more.

He was not at his current contract.

Ya I know his new deal doesn't kick in till next year but he was given a massive contract starting next year and all of a sudden his game went for a crap. Some people probably took offence to that. That's Willy in a nutshell and will always have that tag on him. You'll be hearing it for a long time. He's got a whirlwind amount of talent but some days he is completely non existent.

I'd be very comfortable with a lineup of

Rielly - RHD trade (Tanev/Roy/Dumba type)
Brodie - McCabe
Gio/Benoit - Liljegren

If they land a compatible RHD for Rielly and McCabe is ok on the RHS, I'd be comfortable for this season.

I am quite clearly  talking about nylander over the years up to now and not talking about his new contract. That was not part of my point at all.
