PPP takes a look at the third period collapse:

Basically, that Raymond-Bolland-Clarkson line was awful. I didn't realize that Bolland did a 360 at almost the exact same time as Raymond did on the 3rd goal. Seriously where's that gif?

The whole collapsing deeply into the zone thing - I don't get Carlyle's insistence on it.  And it happens way too often for it to be the players just doing what they want.

You just want to lump all of the blame on one person.  Coaching changes never change anything.

And everyone kept saying "wait till Bolland comes back from injury". Truth is he has been barely visible. I know to come back after missing so many games it takes time but he is like another Clarkson out there.

I don't think he should have come back this season. I don't think he was ready.

I think he's been visible but certainly not in positive ways. A bad line change has essentially become his "Clarkson just fell".

He's still saying that he has troubles turning left. He absolutely shouldn't be in the line-up right now.

Yeah, but you just said you know it takes a while to come back, so your saying we shouldn't criticize him, but then you do.... Apparently he can barely make a turn on that ankle. Maybe he's just come back too early. Either way the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt, wouldn't you say?

It was his decision to come back into the line-up. If he says that he's ready then he shouldn't be coddled. Especially since he returned at a pretty important point in the season.

An ambitious player like Bolland will always say he wants to play, even if his foot is dangling by a thread off his leg. The team doctor, coach and GM need to be the ones that coordinate these decisions. If he's back too early, and is a detriment to the team, how is that not managements fault?

Well, except for the fact that after he was cleared, he decided he wasn't ready and didn't play. If I recall correctly, it was two weeks or so after he was cleared.

Carlyle on Reimer:
?He gave us a chance and good for him,? Carlyle said. ?He needed that and we needed that. It was great.

On the team:
?You tell them to breathe,? Carlyle said. ?That?s our catch phrase now. You can?t do anything if you don?t breathe and that?s what?s happened to our hockey club. When we?re freezing, we?re paralyzed. Just breathe. We?ll get through it.?

Nothing. Just saying that you claimed he'll always want to play even if his foot is dangling, yet his very recent actions are quite the opposite of that.

Will the coach get ripped for this too?

I think he'll always to want to play if it's physically possible, without causing himself embarrassment. The point of the argument is more about management's decision to play him if he is a detriment to the club or not. No matter what Bolland does or doesn't decide on the matter, it's management decision to play him or not. Bolland doesn't call the shots here. Why is that so hard to grasp?

It's not hard to grasp at all. I was just pointing out the error of your claim regarding Bolland. You're suggesting that he would play as soon as he was cleared by medical and management. The truth is the opposite. He WAS cleared medically. HE chose to not play, not management. So, you're not exactly correct. It's clear that Bolland's decision was very important in controlling whether he played or not.

No, I'm doubtful.  I think we can him give full credit for advising his team to just relax and think straight, so to speak.  In Carlyle's own words, the players need to stop gripping their sticks, which shows a tense team.

They dug themselves into this mess in the first place with their most recent  implosion in what should have been the most crucial last three weeks or so of the season, what every team with playoff capabilities & aspirations has been doing.  The Toronto Maple Leafs only have themselves to blame.

Now, all we can do is hope for a Columbus and Detroit implosion of their own. Doubt it'll happen so easily.

What makes you so sure the decision didn't come from management? Pretty sure management has the final say on whether or not players lace up for games.
