Man this Boston team is super annoying
I gotta give them credit, they never give up till the last second, we have to learn that, to put our foot on the throat when we have a team down and go for the kill.

Hyman knows how to find the empty net.

Awesome. I hate the bruins.

Me too.  Well, actually I only really hate Marchand.  And I think Pastrnak's hats are stupid.  But I like him, as long as he's not playing us.

Just to occasionally remind of us of the obvious, Freddie is a really good goaltender.  We had years and years of guys who you couldn't count on to play a nice quiet game in net.  This is so much better for my nervous system.

Ron Hainsey ... I lean toward Frycer's view.  He's an OK defenseman, playing too many minutes at this stage in his career, and does not need to be a fixture on the PK, which is decidedly mediocre.  Would like to see Ozhiganov get some of those minutes to see what he can do with that kind of increased workload shorthanded.  Also Hainsey is slower than the game today, so when he does get out of position (which is not that often) he can look real bad, as on the 2nd Pastrnak goal.  But overall he's helped stabilize the whole blueline IMO.

At least Pastrnak didn't get his hat trick.  Lord, this guy practically owns the Leafs.  The important thing is we won and the effort was commendable (dings & posts & all).

Marner!!

GO LEAFS GO!

Pastrnak deliberately cut to the net using the linesman as a pick after Hainsey tried to support the faceoff. Check out the Bruins casually interfering with Tavares and Marner from sealing off the points (not that everyone else doesn?t do this too). It?s a set play and they executed beautifully thanks to Pastrnak?s smarts and hands.

This is how the Bruins work on the PP (and 5v5 where possible): they cycle and cycle and cycle but not aimlessly like the LA Kings, but to create new passing seams, to get pucks behind the defensive structure, and to make their opponent have to sort and re-sort constantly. The Leafs are not good with sorting out after about 3 looks because one player inevitably falters and the whole thing turns into a sieve.

In the clip above you see Dermott struggling to re-find Pastrnak after the blocked shot, and he can?t because Pastrnak just quietly fades into the blindspot of everyone trying to track the puck.

Hainsey simply blew the coverage and went in the wrong direction. On a lost draw you pick up a man immediately. A D man needs to get his ass to the net not go towards the faceoff dot. Hainsey makes some terrible decisions out there and that was another example of one. Dermott messed up on the first by not covering the backdoor. There was no reason for him to move to the middle. Having said that, I'd rather live with Dermott messing up as he learns then watching a vet do it. I think it's time Babs tries Oz on the pk.

Hainsey picked himself there. He has one player on the ice to worry about. Pastrnak. Why Hainsey's first reaction was to skate towards the point is beyond me. It's not a logical reaction by a defensemen lining up beside their assignment. It's almost like Pastrnak pointed to the right and said "Hey Ron! Look over there!"
