Bruins @ Leafs - Oct. 25th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Oh hi Reimer.  Sure, you're coming in on relief, better give you a whole bunch of pressure right in front of the net.  This team has a major character problem.

Gardiner is starting to look like Nonis's Jeff Finger.

Apart from the age difference, completely different style of play, and the fact that Gardiner is coming off a few strong seasons and brings a skill to the team that it sorely lacks (the ability to carry the puck), I completely agree with you.

I don't care if you guys kick me off the board.  Phaneuf is freaking awful.

The thing that bugs me there, and I've mentioned it before, is that it wasn't a failure of ability. He just gave up on the play or, and this is the charitable reading of things, he just forgot about covering his man.

That's the kind of thing I just think the team's captain can't do. Miss checks, sure, get beat to the outside, whatever...but to look like you don't care?

A few strong seasons? The only thing he's shown is fleeting potential. Not anything approaching a "strong season". Nonsense.

Relative to his age and role, he was strong. Hence him getting paid.

The bottom line, and several of us have said it, is that this team will never amount to anything so long as Kessel's the best forward and Phaneuf is considered the top d-man.  Way too many flaws.

He was our best defenceman last season.

I don't agree with 2badknees as I think that Gardiner has been good the two years he was healthy but right now I don't blame anyone for not wanting to grade on a curve that easy right now.

I think he's been below average all season now, and he looks worse after his benching than before it. But saying he hasn't had "anything approaching a strong season" is, well, nonsense.
