Burke Fired

Crickets! Dumb question on Luongo, IMO

Enough people on this thread wondered about it though.

We'll find out in a week or so.  If Luongo is traded here that absolutely was a factor in Burke getting fired.

Or, that maybe Burke and Nonis were very much working on a Luongo deal and the Nonis simply continued the process.

Sure, but, regardless of it's impact, Anselmi was always going to answer "no."

Sure, but if it's something that people are curious about it behooves a journalist to ask the question nonetheless.

Hey gang, MLSE's singular focus is on rewarding us fans.

You know, aside from everything that's happened over the last few months.

I just meant on the reporter's end. I could have accurately answered for Nonis. "Can't comment" "If I could, I wouldn't", therefore "No". Just seems like a risky question that could have had the exact response it did.

As I said, though, if it's something on people's minds then regardless of the answer there's value in asking it.

Nice classless question bringing up Burke's son.  If I was there I'd really think about punching that reporter.

To who? The people that didn't remember that GM's or team officials can't speak about other team's players? Or the people that thought that Anselmi was stupid enough to take bait like that?

Nonis just admitted this whole incident has set management, players and the whole organization reeling. Instead of looking at players they can bring in and getting ready and organized to start the season they will now spend that time calming everyone down, and playing catch up. This is not a good day for the Leafs and the timing will hurt the club in the short term in a season when they need to come out flying. Wow.

Journalistic value. Even if you think you know what the answer is going to be you still want to ask questions pressing on the public.

I have to agree with him.  Not great timing at all.
