Cell Phones

Gah, I have a 4S but would probably take a Samsung or BB over an Iphone at this point.  :P

I understand potentially going for Samsung, but, going for the BB over pretty much any other smartphone is a mistake. RIM has done a pretty good job of releasing updates for their OS that fix some problems while creating significant larger ones. Everyone I know that is using the Z10 has run into issues of updates doing things like crippling their ability to send and receive texts or just flat out not installing but leaving the phone stuck in the install process for days. It's been a mess.

As much as I want to support the Blackberry's(I'm an owner of both a playbook and a Torch), I just can't. I've heard the Z10/Q10 are great..but I've also heard stories like yours.

If I had my choice, and my work didn't handcuff me to a Blackberry, I'd be eyeing up the Samsung's

The worst part is that the problem is entirely with the OS. The Z10 itself is actually pretty nice. It's a good size, has a nice, comfortable design and a really good camera. If it was an Android device, it would probably be up there with the samsung phones.

Before I got Samsung's Note 2, I had the 4s.  Got fed up of the screen size (the 5's being only a sllght improvement).

I had actually been thinking about Blackberry's new devices -- the Z10 at the time -- and now, considering all the problems BB's new smartphone owners have with their devices, am glad I didn't make the switch,

The Playbook is one  I woold never trade for the world.  Even with it's less than perfect setup, what other tablet gives you flash to see virtually any video that the others can't?!!

The one bonus that Apple & BB have is that their devices/OSs one the most secure and the least 'hackable'.  Android's 0S On the other hand, as been reported to be among the worst & most 'haokable'.

There really isn't all that much flash video out there these days. In part because better options have presented themselves over the last few years and, also, because Adobe killed mobile Flash 2 years ago. Any site that is still relying on Flash for their video is a site that is well behind the times.

A couple of months ago I upgraded to the Z10, and I love it. My fiancee wanted me to try a touchscreen phone, and would prefer I switch to the iphone, but i wanted to stay with blackberry. I always hated the touchscreen keyboard, so I think hes hoping I get used to it on the z10, and consider iphone next time around.
Having tried both touch keyboards, the keyboard on the z10 is 1000 times better. While the flick typing is a really neat concept, and especially handy if you are trying to type one-handed, its essentially not needed for the most part, as the "autocorrect" on blackberry is way better, and way more intuitive than that of the iphone. Also, I like that if it corrects to the wrong word, and you backspace to the end of the word, the original word pops back up, unlike the iphone where you have to remove the whole new word and retype what you wanted.

I love the larger screen size, and the fact that you can do flash on it as well. The operating system as well is amazing. Ive had very few problems with updating, etc. The only issue I have noticed is sometimes people have tried to call me and it hasnt come through. Only once or twice though so it could have been reception.

But I must say, as great as the keyboard does work for a touch screen, I will most definitely be going with a qwerty physical keyboard again next time around. Everyone I know who had a touch screen phone told me that after a month id be convinced, but its been almost 3 and I still miss the keyboard. I pay 8 bucks a month for insurance on the phone (they gave me free caller id for 3 years, same price so its a wash) to cover, as they put it, "any damage that I cause to the phone" so im hoping if it comes to that they will let me have a q5, 10, or the 30 if it out by then haha

My son has an iphone 4s. My wife has a nexus. My daughter has an older version of something or another.  All 3 get some form of access in our house.  Me? Nada. In my driveway, very little.  I have an S3.  I need to find some kind of booster or something...

Get ready for another iPhone with no new features.

Did anyone else sign a 3 year contract recently? I signed two months ago, had to sign a 3 year deal to get the z10 for 49 dollars. Now the same phone is the same price, but for only a 2 year contract. I inquired with Telus Online Support if they were going to do anything for those two signed a 3 year deal recently, such as shorten their contracts to 2 years come december when the new rules officially become law. The guy basically told me, well you knew these changes were coming and chose to upgrade when you did. The people with 2 year contracts have to pay higher prices for the plans than people on 3 year contracts.

So basically the government puts in a law to help and protect consumers, and the phone companies just up the monthly costs to make up for it?

Ive been with Telus for over 10 years now, and I really dont think I will sign with them. Their customer service has really gone down hill. My phone was going through data at an alarming rate the second month I had my phone, ie using upwards for 30mb when I was at home, connected to wifi, and asleep, so I called in to inquire about it. I told the woman, I was well under my data last month, now all of a sudden my phone is using data much faster, and when I am connected to wifi, so I think its an issue with the phone. Her exact words were "Its not your phone, your plan isnt made for your new phone, you have to upgrade and get more data" to which I replied, it was fine last month, now all of a sudden is using data when it shouldnt be. She told me 3 more times I had to upgrade to a new plan, and after asking her if she would be playing for the extra data should I upgrade and then end up not using it because it was a phone issue, she put me through to a data person, who, while she hadent heard of the issue occurring, suggested I back up my phone and reload the operating system. I did this, and now the phone is fine, using only 20 or so mb of data/day.

When I first signed up with Telus they were amazing. Now, not so much.

I got an iphone5 for my birthday from hubby and the kids. I had an iphone4 with only 8gb and it was brutal. I like that it a little longer, lighter and screen is a little better, not much but better.

My son has the Samsung Galaxy Note. It's really big, he doesn't mind it but the battery life is absolutely horrible. He is due for an upgrade in 2 mths and will likely go with the 5S.

Odd, I have the Note 2 and my battery last 48 hours with regular use. I don't think there is another phone out there that lasts that long.

Well, the Note was the first of its kind when it was released. The Note 2 was a significant upgrade I think.

I had an iPhone 3GS and the thing never lasted a day for me.
