And here I thought that Eklund was a thing of the distant past.
Dude Eklund does a video podcast with Mike from Buffalo...

Who I also thought was a thing of the distant past.  :P  Do they still have radio call-in shows?

Mike from Buffalo was the biggest kiss ass on Leafs talk. Good evening Mr Frost. How may I kiss your ass tonight lol.

Yup. Same here. What a stooge.

500k difference.  That's like a Lamborghini and a half -- not much in richpro world.  Du it, Du bas!

I think both Matthews and Nylander return to action on the same night, changes the story line to Dynamic Duo reunited instead of all focus being on Nylander, maybe booed by some cranky fans.

I would like to see Johnsson moved up to top line left wing with them, regardless of tonight scoring out-burst. He'd have a lot of space with people chasing Matthews and Nylander all over the ice. I think Johnsson could wind up with 25 goals playing with them.

Marleau-Kadri-Kappy seem to be building some chemistry. Ditto for Brown and Lindholm, then just throw Ennis on the left side. Goat and Leivo for depth.

Like the way Ozzy is coming along on defence. played 22 minutes tonight. Just plays a simple game, but he's effective. Dermott keeps growing in confidence. They both make the odd mistake but their learning. With Liljgren and Sandin looking good on the Marlies, the big panic over the blueline could be straightened out in a year of two, but will likely need some short term upgrades...just my thoughts.

This sounds a lot more substantial than previous media rumors of a deal being "24-48 hours" away doesn't it?  Babcock being so bullish of having him back along with the panel last night saying there were only 500k apart makes me believe this will happen.

Bringing both back in the same game makes sense although I don't think fans would boo Nylander, a sense of relief would be present that this black cloud has passed.

I'll hold off on imagining line combos until the deal is announced. I've been waiting and dreaming of seeing a full Leafs lineup since July 1st, we're tantalizing close now

If the sides really are $500,000 apart, that is definitely interesting.  Isn't Nylander sacrificing $40,000 per day right now?  So that's $240,000 if he sits out all the way to the end of the month.  Why not just sign it right now?  Also, are they $500,000 per year apart, or is it $500,000 in terms of the entire contract?

I do have hope at this point but I will believe this when I see it.

I think it's pretty safe to say they're 500k apart in terms of AAV. Which means that it's probably a total difference of 3-4 million at this point.

If that is true then it means there has been movement on Nylander's side, not Dubas.  It has been long rumored that Dubas would sign Nylander long term for ~$6.5 million.

Is it presumptuous to assume that Willie would go directly to the top line as soon as he signs? Any chance he needs to shake the rust off first?

No.

Seems unlikely that playing on the 4th line is going to get him up to speed quicker than filling the role he's supposed to be filling, even if the results aren't optimal right away.

They might want to give him a few hard practices before entering the line-up, but limiting his minutes once he's there probably wouldn't do anything positive.

Nylander is coming back basically the same time as Matthews so Babcock can slow roll them with OZ draws as he sees fit at home. There?s no need to run anyone on the 4th line to warm up.

The ?top? line is whichever line is succeeding that night anyway of which we can conceivably have 3 in any given game.

I already explained it once.  You are being needlessly argumentative, as usual.

I am making no argument. I'm asking a question because I don't understand what you're saying.
