Dealing with Last Night's Loss

Leafs GM Dave Nonis had this to say:
?I think we were, in a lot of ways, and a lot of the time, we were the better team.?

Coach Randy Carlyle on criticisms of the coaching staff:
Carlyle has second-guessed his management on the bench. He said he wondered whether he had the right players on the ice down the stretch. He said the coaching staff discussed the possibility of taking a timeout, but with the way the television breaks were unfolding, combined with Boston?s timeout, they concluded it would be counter-productive.

?What we could have done off of their time out? With the centre ice faceoff? We could have done
something a little bit more aggressive, just to get ourselves going instead of just receiving,? Carlyle said. ?We didn?t really move and attack at all, and we?re an attacking hockey club.?

...and advice to the players...
I just relayed the message that none of us feel very good right now, you couldn?t possibly feel good,? he said. ?It?s a low point in a culmination of your season ? and the only thing that I said to them is: ?It?ll take some time. Time will heal this, but we can never forget it.?

any away from this site prediced bruins sweep and maybe one game. This site a little biast. Isn't it a little curious refs ignore a dangerous elbow to the head and call a delay of game penalty in a tight game on a team shorthanded (last night LA game.)

It's funny how you pretend not to get it. ;)

Well, no. I mean, I get it. You're like the people who believe Elvis is still alive. You want to believe it so bad that you're willing to ignore the giant corpse on the toilet.

Love it. ;). And yet you're still wrong.... ;D

Edit: You can hire a team of the best lawyers money can buy, set a court date for next September. I'll show up in jeans and a T-shirt, and still have a 50-50 chance of walking away a winner. That's because this whole argument is opinion based.

But, you just keep on bringing your set of steak knifes to the sushi bar.

I'll give you this. At least you're entertaining.

Oh man I can't handle how much the Bruins got away with there. You got Jagr running Reimer twice, Marchand slewfooting Reim behind the net, the nasty elbow, Lupul getting crosschecked into Rask than blockered and punched in the face, than later on circled and jabbed at by 3 Bruins while the ref looks on, and infractions all over the ice in the 2nd period alone. I think the refs were scared to make another call against the Bruins after they called Lucic...It's easier making a call against a road team.

Right. So is the Elvis one. Some people's opinions are that he's alive. Other opinions are based in fact.

Agreed. We're just on opposing sides of whether or not Elvis actually died. What do you say?

Like John Lennon said, Elvis died the day he went into the army.

Hey, that's the second bitter, post-Beatles John Lennon quote I've worked into this thread.

No. Elvis died from a lethal intake of peanut butter and banana sandwiches fried in butter. But that's just my opinion.

Duh.  Elvis faked his own death so he could coach the Rangers:

Lol. I always thought he looked like the Fonz, but without the cool temperament.

For the record Elvis' love of The Fool's Gold sandwich is something I have committed to memory.

Anyways, I suppose a bright spot to all of this is that no matter how badly some Leafs fans may be taking the loss at least they can look to the Mayor for guidance during the city's trying...who...wait...what?

Every time I see a player lay down their body to block a shot, and it's no coincidence that the teams that are left do it a lot, I flash back to Kulemin's missed flamingo.

I watched the 3rd period of the Penguins-sens game tonight. First period of hockey I've watched since game 7. I didn't want to watch much of the playoffs, especially in the East, because I truly thought that the Leafs could have beaten any of the remaining Eastern teams in a 7- game series. Not because I think the Leafs are a Stanley Cup contender, but because I didn't really think any of the East teams left are. This is probably the weakest conference I remember in a really long time. And the 20 minutes that I watched, and the fact that the Bruins put up 5 against the Rangers and Lundqvist, don't really change my opinion on this.

Whatever team that comes out of the East will get steamrolled by LA/Chicago. I just really thought it could have been the Leafs.

One note.... Don't count out SJ.

I thought I was the only one LOL!  Saw Crosby do it the other day and thought the same thing.
