Eastern Conference final: (1) New York Rangers vs (6) New Jersey Devils

Should be a good one... Richards/Gaborik vs Kovalchuck/Parise is a wash I think. We have Callahan vs. Clarkson is another nice match up. Overall, I think the Rangers talent level top to bottom is slightly better. Their defence is better and Lundqvist ought to be better. Anything can happen but I just have to go with the better team and with the home ice advantage. - Rangers in 7.

Devils have the edge in experience (especially in net), but the Rangers are the better team . . . Rangers in 7, I guess.

I'm not sure who I want to win here.  With the Rags win over Washington, in my pool, I now hold the top players in 3/4 of the remaining teams, including both these teams.  Elias, Parise and Clarkson vs Gaborik, Richards, and Hagelin.

I would normally agrre about style of play but this off season Rangers have played a lot more boring games than the Devils.

The Rangers should win this, I'll say in 7 as the Devils were surprisingly disciplined in that last series too, tough call.

The Rangers just had finished two seven game series and the ottawa one was very physical.  I think the Devils get the advantage because fatigue will catch up with the rangers.

Wow. The first period is 0-0, shots 8-6 Rangers. Must have been a great period.

Looks like another 2-1 or 1-0 game.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzharumph

They played tonight?  Why wasn't I informed?

3-0 New York.  Superb netminding by "King" Lundqvist. He's going to have to be on his game in this series against the Devils sharpshooters.  So far, so very good.

Too bad.

I'm thinking that we could be heading for the titanic Kings-Rangers final.

There are worse things than having the two biggest US markets involved in a championship series.

Like the fact that it could be the most boring final since before the lockout? :)

Depends on your point of view, of course, but I am not all that enamoured with defensive hockey.

Granted, I haven't watched much of the Kings yet, but I have watched the Rangers...

Speaking of which, nobody has commented on tonight's game yet. I don't think I will be the first.

To be fair, lt's not like Jersey or Glendale are offensive dynamos. The Rangers are the highest scoring team remaining.

After the first round the excitement level of the games has fallen off a cliff.

And now I see they have matinees both Sat and Sun?  Way to ensure that I won't be watching, Gary.

Jersey Snore.

Devils win 3-2. How did New Jersey get past the shot blockers?  By putting up a "layered" offense which included plenty of deflected shots (plus goals).  Lundqvist had plenty of traffic to deal with in front of him, while Brodeur was his vintage self making some impossible stops.

Watching Tortorella yelling at his troops behind the bench is a surefire sign is all not going well with his team on the ice.  None the more for Marian Gaborik, benched for the remainder of the game.
