Eastern Conference final: (1) New York Rangers vs (6) New Jersey Devils

The music for tonight's intro video is by Lights? Really? This couldn't be any more off.

I know the perfect Phil Collins song for these playoffs:  "I Don't Care Anymore"

Poni and Johnny Mitchell not doing it for you?

LA vs NJ final....should be good, both teams are on fire right now.

Those early leads the Rangers gave the Devils in both of the last two games killed them.

Oh well, a New Jersey/L.A. Stanley Cup Final.... probably not what the honchos at NBC wanted, as it's certain the Rangers were the preferred team for them.  For publicity's sake, it probably would have been better.

I'm expecting the Devils/Kings matchup to provide some fast-paced action... and a reprieve from boredom.

Anybody know if DeBoer and Torts shook hands?

They cut away from DeBoer on the ice as he was walking over during the NBC feed.

This is great!

Apologies aside to the Ranger fans who are real hockey fans, the way too many cement head jerks that pollute Madison Square Garden now don't get to see their team win a Stanley Cup. And it can't be more humiliating than by a loss from arch-rival New Jersey!

I'm rooting for the Devils in the final and I may try to get a ticket to one of the games.

It's worth noting that the Rangers defence contributed 11 goals in these playoffs.  That's more than the combined total of the three remaining teams that were in the Conference Finals, with a total of 13.

Must be the new math, because I could have sworn 13 was a larger total than 11.

What they mean obviously is that it took 3 teams to score 13 whereas one team (the Rangers) scored 11.  The other teams combined had more, at first glance,  but not when one defines the statistics more accurately.

How does one define statistics so that 13 isn't more than 11?

It specifically says the Rangers 11 goals was more than the combined total of 13 (hence the phrase "that's more than the combined total"). It's really that cut and dry, and that wrong.
