ECF: (A3) Montreal vs. (M2) New York

This is a no-brainer, Montreal is going to eat them alive.  To me, NYR didn't so much beat Pittsburgh as they didn't also lose.  I thought both teams were weak and one of them had to move on.  I think MSL's inspirational burst got them through Pittsburgh but that's going to be it - they're running on fumes now.  NYR can go through some pretty horrendous scoring slumps.  Even Fleury got back-to-back shutouts against them.  Good luck against Price.  Habs in 4 (maybe 5 if Henrik steals one)

I agree with most of what you said, Manson. Pittsburgh lost, helped in part by that "inspirational burst". I think the Habs win, BUT unlike you I will go beyond maybe and give the Rangers a game. My maybe goes to giving them two.

Saturday at 1pm eh? Looks like they are trying to appease the American TV market, HNIC be damned (though to be honest, during the playoffs, I think Saturday night HNIC becomes less impactful).

This is unpossible.  Days like this make me really sad to be a Leaf fan.

I was rooting for the Habs during the Boston series, now I don't really care but think the Rangers will take it.

Even if you're extremely anti-Montreal, look at it this way. The further they get the more crushing the defeat will feel (they might lose against New York, they definitely won't beat CHI/ANA/LA). And the further along Subban carries them the bigger his contract is going to have to be.

After everything Dominic Moore has gone through, I'd really, really like to see him win a Cup - thus, I'm rooting NYR the rest of the way. (I realize this means that Carcillo ends up with his name on the Cup too - I can live with that in this circumstance...)

Anything can happen, and as a Leafs fan, I'm used to "anything" being whatever is most soul-crushing to the Leafs.

The Rangers can do a lot of the same things that made the Bruins did successfully, but, they do them without the same antics that gave the Habs the extra motivation they needed to win in round 2. It'll be interesting to see how the Habs respond to a team that can be physically dominating, but classy at the same time. I also don't think it's a coincidence that, once the Rangers got a couple days to rest, they turned things around and basically took over the series. That won't be as much of an issue here, as the Rangers will have had a few days off before game 1.

If Nash wakes up, it should be a good series, otherwise, it could be a relatively easy Habs win.

Agree with this. Habs win in 5 unless Nash decides he wants to get down and dirty. So 5 it will be....

They also have more speed and a much deeper defence.

I didn't think the Rangers would get this far, so who knows.  Price has been bonkers though, so I think the smart money is still on Montreal.

But I'm a Leafs fan: I don't do smart, so I'll be pulling for the Rangers.

Rangers up 4-1 after 2 in game 1. Didn't expect that.

The Boston series must have been very emotionally draining on Montreal. I kinda expected a let-down game here. It seemed like they had things under control though. They were the better team for most of the 2nd, and even brought the score to within 1. But those two late goals by New York were killers.

I didn't expect the score to be so lopsided, but, I'm not at all surprised the Rangers are ahead. They're really built in a way that will give the Habs trouble, especially without New York giving them that little extra motivation by doing stupid stuff on the ice.

Montreal also looks like they're starting to become a little unhinged and the Rangers just aren't retaliating. If that keeps up, the Habs are done.
