There may be a certain. amount of psychology attributtable to a team that loses it's top goaltender. But, because Tokarski played so well, this discounts the above statement.
There are many who do not beleive that even with Carey Price in net, that the Canadiens would have been triumphant over the Rangers. The Canadiens lack of somewhat proper depth on defence was evident, particularly in Game 6. Their defence displayed fatigue, in particular Andrei Markov on that Dominic Moore winner.
Also, for Game 6), the loss of Weise & Emelin further 'weakened' Montreal's defence and two-way agility (in which Dale Weise was instrumental in supplying).
