Exhibition: Leafs @ Canadiens - July 28th, 8:00pm - SN1, 680 NEWS

And with that single tune-up game Leafs ready for the 2020 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS.

- Rielly looks like the giant break benefited.
- Kerfoot liking those wingers. Could be one of the best 3rd lines in hockey.
- Freddy looking sharp.

If you listen to Sportsnet Price was the first star tonight with a sparkling .826 save %

I don't really fault Price for the score.

I'm already sick of the narrative that he's some sort of X factor for the Habs. He hasn't been that Carey Price in years

If there?s a food that makes you sick, you don?t eat it, right?

Rielly's jumped into the play a ton tonight. That's something that's been somewhat lacking in his game this season. Hopefully he keeps that up.

I don't want to blame everything on injury but that time off certainly didn't hurt him.

Really good job by the Leafs generating shots from high danger areas at 5-on-5, while limiting the high danger shots against.

Kerfoot, Robertson, Kapi, Anderson, Rielly, Souperman two thumbs up. rest OK, but what was Nylander up to, nice Butterfly movements.  I love Willie but that was not a great performance.  Ceci and Barrie as bad as expected.  Can't wait to clear 7 million on those two.

One team looked like they had given up on the season in February and were forced to try again for a couple of weeks.

The other team looked like they'd been working out and getting healthy and practicing for months but just needed game reps.

I actually really liked Nylander. I thought his creativity was at a high. Marner seemed to be the most off of the big 3 to me. Other than his one behind the back kick pass, i thought he was trying to force things and was giving away the puck in dangerous situations.

He's really their only shot of advancing next round.....soooo he is kind of the biggest factor on the team.

People might just be remembering the latter half of the game when the ice was sludge and the top-6 took their foot off the gas to preserve them and due to all the Montreal PPs. Willy also had an NZ turnover when the puck bounced over his stick in transition and let up on a puck pursuit at the top of the circles which eventually led to a goal, which are more memorable than the times Marner frittered away pretty much every PP possession by overplaying or forcing shots.

Again, I'm sure I've harped this over and over here, the worst place to give up the puck(obviously other than your own slot), is at the opposing team's blue line. Any team with a transition game built on speed will eat you alive. Montreal doesn't have that. Against any of the better teams, a couple of Marner's forced passes end up in the back of Toronto's net.

I predict a Pens sweep of the Habs

I got so wrapped up in watching hockey that I honestly wasn't paying that much attention to things.  How did the ice look in the 3rd.  I honestly don't remember the puck bouncing around a lot.

They looked like they tried to keep it flat and simple. Was it Kerfoot that mentioned the ice conditions in the post-game?
