Are you only using statistics to prove he's been awful or have you watched the games? Because he surely hasn't been awful. He's let in a few softies, but overall he's been pretty good (note I didn't say great, outstanding, etc.) He's been satisfactory. he's certainly done his job as a backup.

Come on, at least read all the posts before you accuse me.

I stated, and have previously to this, that Gus is awful for the following reason:

He doesn't know where the post is and doesn't have great positioning.  Positioning you can learn, but finding the post is instincts, and once he leaves the crease he has no idea where he is.  And as his numbers sequentially indicate, he has not gotten better since his arrival.

I had read all the posts prior to responding. I won't get into it further as i feel Nik did an admirable job of illustrating how weak your opinion is. I believe Gus could be better, but there's no way "awful" is an accurate description of either his abilities or play to date.

This is the way the Columbus NHL franchise died. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

You have to feel for their fans a bit.  They have been a hopeless team for their entire existence.

Gah, how can the Leafs play so well 5 on 5 but struggle mightily on the PP.  You have the man advantage, stop standing around and getting outworked.

Scrivens is fun.

I like how active he seems to be with his stick.  I hate watching a pass or deke that a goalie could have poked away go right by him but Scrivens seems to get on stuff like that.

Hey now, they made the playoffs that one time.

This is why I was suggesting in the speculation section that maybe it's time for them to blow up the team and start over. Put Nash on the block and see what comes along?

Clearly, the status quo is a disaster.

I'm not going to declare victory just yet - that first Ottawa game is still fresh in my memory. Hopefully they learned from that one.

I don't know why but im more worried about our opponents scoring on our pp than on even strength. I get worried when we go on the pp.

If I were James Reimer I'd be feeling a little worried about having a job when I did manage to stop sobbing in a dark room and get out on the ice again.
