Wow, 2-0 after 1! Just got home - saw Columbus has outshot the Leafs 11-4. Was the play as one sided as the shot total?

I don't think so. The Leafs just missed the net on a couple of pretty good chances and, special teams aside, I thought they probably held their own puck possession wise.

Thanks Nik. Not as bad as the numbers look. :)

The point kind of dulled because of his late assist but I think that period kind of emphasized how misleading it would be to look at Kulemin entirely through the prism of his point totals. Outside of maybe Crabb I thought Kulemin was the best Leafs forward that period.

I think he has gotten better over the last couple of games in terms of his physical play.  He's almost impossible to win puck battles against when he has good balance.

I don't care when the Leafs get fortunate with a soft goal.  I've seen so many soft goals go in against the Leafs in favour of the other team since the lockout that I just take it and enjoy when it happens.

THE GENERAL!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAA  TENNNNNNNNNN    SHUNNNNNNN!

Where did he get this nickname?

Some time ago, some fans got together and decided that all of the Leafs needed awkward, poorly fitting nicknames.

And magic was born...

Man, when we have the top two lines firing on all cylinders and the third line chipping in, this offence can look potent.  Our D is still MIA though.

Why do I feel more comfortable watching Scrivens in net after only one period of NHL play than I ever have watching Gus?

BTW I love the rookies initials too. Nice start to the bigs!!!
I feel the same way although it's only been one period. I think it's because it feels as if Scrivens is very calm, and keeps his position, and doesn't seem stressed about anything. He doesn't look nervous at all, it's like another day at work although this should be very special for him.

He is very calm. Almost 'Reimer like' in goal :)
Even though its only been 1 period, you gotta think Gus may be getting a little hot under the collar watching that calmness from the rookie in his first NHL game.
