Leafs @ Avalanche 7pm EST Saturday November 23,2019 SN, CBC, TSN Radio 1050

What a game! Leafs bend but don't break. Huge 1st and then score effects. Leafs still had tons of opportunities for their 5th. Great win. 2-0 in the New Era. Looking forward to the next!

Biggest thing is the Leafs won both games and now get a few days to practice with Keefe and try and get the system a little more ingrained.

Yeah for the next couple of weeks, we don?t care how

Didn't like that rope a dope game after the 2nd but whatever, I'll take it.

Gotta credit Francouz, he kept them alive when Tavares and Mikheyev had that 2 on 0.

Tavares didn't get rewarded but he was tenacious on the puck most of the evening and I thought had a good game.  Man, though, he's gotta start scoring.

If you've seen the Marlies pressers, you'll know that Keefe is a really good communicator when explaining how he wants the team to play.

Ceci played nearly 27 min last night :-O I?m not sure if this is a recipe for long term success.

Definitely an entertaining game!

I miss Kadri.

Imagine Kadri with Keefe?s in-game flexibility

Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Kadri-Tavares-Marner

And repeat

Dubas indicates in the follow up media availabilities that with Keefe in alignment, they can make the personnel acquisition decisions they intended to before

I actually thought Ceci had a decent game and his block at the end was the game saver. Great reaction.

Some work still to be done and I think that's Dubas' job to make some tweaks. Team is weak in their own end. Whether that changes with Keefe we'll see but I think it's personnel.
Have any of you been to Denver?  I was gassed there just walking around, the effort to get wind at that altitude is difficult. Any of their teams has a built in advantage, over visitors.
Then spent 10 days in Crested Butte at over 10,000 Ft., had a headache the entire time, difficult to sleep or do about anything, say it takes two weeks to acclimatize to that level. Most beautiful place I have ever been to but was miserable the entire time.

Huh?  They weren't doing this already? I  thought the narrative was that they've already been getting the players Dubas wanted (Spezza, Barrie) and Horrible Babcock was undermining them.

Ceci had a great game but that doesn't nullify the fact that if they have him playing Suter-like minutes there's no chance of deep success.

Leafs look like a completely different team. Its amazing.

It's not quite the same but the first handful of games last year they seemed to just overwhelm teams with their offense.  This is like a considerably better version of that.

The major indictment is that this team was like two procedural tweaks from this

Well, I owe Barrie a big apology, that's for sure.  Looks like he was well and truly straitjacketed by Mike.
Yep, Barrie is actually very good, WOW, what a difference.  Reminds me of the scene in the Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid where Sundance is asked to show off his shooting prowess to a mine owner, he is asked to do so in a static position and misses the can. The mine owner looks away pissed.  Sundance asks "Can I move"?  And proceeds to shoot the can 5 times while it's dancing in the air.

Barrie and Babock to Keefe and Barrie.

Sounds like you're really affected by altitude sickness.  I'm lucky, spend a fair amount of of time traveling to CO to Denver along the Front Range and don't have any symptoms at all, even shortness of breath.  Granted, I'm never exerting myself beyond moderate exercise.

Really high up, yes, shortness of breath (at the very least) affects almost everyone.

I do think the altitude may have contributed to them being unable to keep up a high-paced attack beyond the 1st.
