Orr and McLaren had more ice-time in the 3rd than Grabovski.

edit: And I don't mean combined either.

Message from RC to his players, now Thursday night he will turn around and roll out the same sad sack group out there all over again.

Grabovski was flying around in the 2nd period.  Not exactly sure how that was a statement other than Carlyle seems to be in love with garbage players.

It wasn't a message to Grabs necessarily, more of a why bother put out my shutdown line, I will just roll with my 4th line lovefest crew as nobody really deserves the ice anyway.

The beginning of the end of good play for Reimer? Didn't see the game but he's good in spurts. Can't seem to put together a whole season.

Worst thing for me was watching his post game interview. He was smiling, having good laughs... I mean watching Dion he said the Leafs did not execute, himself included... it was apparent that he is disappointed, sort of angry with himself, the Leafs performance, while James was all laughs. I know that he has that smile of his all the time, but there are moments he simply should not smile like he is having fun.

You can't really fault him on any of the goals, but I can't really think of any saves he made that were all that impressive either.

Your right but at the end of the day it is another game where 3 or 4 got past him and since coming back from the injury he looks like last season's Reimer.  We sit back and say it is the team in front of him which sure it is to an extent.  However, what it comes down to is pre-injury Reimer and Scrivens to date have made our d look good.

That is exactly what I was thinking.  Somehow, both Leaf goaltcnders have recently looked subpar.  Let's hope whoever is in goal for the next game plays better.

Question: is Burke still taking credit for "setting the table" or have the last 3 games been Nonis's team?

It really looks like teams are adapting to Toronto's style. Instead of engaging them physically, teams are using speed and quick passing/transitions to exploit the slower, sluggish Toronto defenders. Montreal learned this after their pasting; Ottawa has completely dominated the previous two meetings (granted, while winning only one of those) and Winnipeg made them look silly last night.

Leafs need some fast, puck moving defencemen on the back end and they have to quit dressing two enforcers and start putting some quality depth players on the ice. (Where's Hamilton? He is a tough winger who has 25 goals in 50 games with the Marlies). Who knows how much any of this will help but it just seems crazy to be putting all those lumbering players on the ice and giving less time to the more talented, useful ones.

I'm betting it'll be Burke's team according to fans/media if they continue losing.

That is exactly it, Carlye favors players who suck over players who are good.

It is absurd to me that Kadri sat the entire 2 min 5 on 3 on the bench.  Carlye is as bad as it gets when it comes to game management.  He has absolutely no clue what he is doing.  3 loses in a row now, here comes normality.

If I am Nonis I find a way to move Bozak and Orr (just cut em).  Carlye cannot be trusted to use the proper personnel out on the ice.  It is absolutely ridiculous that Bozak saw all two minutes of the five on three and Kadri saw none of it.

Seriously, how does Carlye explain this?

Did anyone really thnk we would go the whole season without some sort of losing streak? Hands up anyone who thoguth we would be where we are in standings right now? I certinaly dind't.. Maybe I am in the minority.. Win two of the next three and we are back in business..

I know Busta is gonna kill me for this, but it really is amazing how many guys break out of slumps against us or score their first, etc.

Just thinking of this season, Grigorenko scored his first ever goal against.  Keith Aucoin had his first against us.  Last night Wellwood scored his first in like 20, Antropov same deal, couple weeks ago Greening scored his first in 14, Jordan Staal scored his first goal of the season against us (like 10 games in)... followed up by his 2nd goal about two weeks later.  Against the Isles, over twenty games into the season, all of Josh Bailey, Lubomir Visnovsky and Andrew Mcdonald scored their FIRST of the year in the same game!  Scott Hartnell has 1 goal this season (in 11 games) and it's against us.

That's just off the top of my head.

It amazes me how many slumps get broken against us.

OH, the 1-0 loss to Boston was scored by Chris Bourque, his only goal in 18 games this year.

And last week Zack Smith stopped a 35 game goalless streak...... against us.

It's uncanny.

Oh yeah, and 21 games into the year Alexei Emelin scores his first against us.

I know Busta will chalk this up to cooincidence or, "but I imagine similar things can be said for other teams" but I'm going to firmly believe there's a weird slump-busterness aura that is attached to us.

Sure with any normal team, but being a Leafs fan we don't have to look any further back than last year with all the "Oh this website says we have 80% chance of being in the playoffs..." and then the wheels falling off.  Suddenly losing 3 straight games at this time of the season and having the 9th place team 3 points back with a game in hand, the collar feels tighter.

I think you're confusing me with Potvin.

I do agree with what he chalked up to you, until I'm shown any evidence to the contrary.

Kyle Turris ended a 20+ game streak without a goal against Boston the other night.  I'm guessing every night you can find players ending streaks.

Seriously, just use logic, do you think there is black magic sorcery going on?  It's coincidence, jeez.

EDIT: I should add, it's probably shouldn't even be labelled coincidence - you don't watch every game of every other team as closely as the Leafs, so you (a) don't care when it happens against them, (b) don't notice it.  Leafs players have to break their slumps against teams, too.  And if players don't break their slumps against the Leafs, they will against another team.  Get over it, it's not a big deal.

SLUMP BUSTERS!

Happens all the time against us.  Those 20+ game streaks mount quickly and we kill em!

I'm not denying this... I'm just saying it happens with greater frequency against us than other team.  You can take this one to the bank dude!

My buddy's and I sing out the slump buster song on Voxer (it's an app if you dont knoow) far too often:

"When you're in a slump..... and you need a goal..... who you wanna play?  Slump Busters!"

Dude, when 3 Isles score their firsts of the year... in the same game... 20+ games into the season... you don't need to be drawing Venn diagrams to figure this out.  I listed like 12-13 streaks off the top of my head in ~25 games.
