Game 54 - Leafs @ Jets - Feb 7th, 2012 - 19:30 EST - Snet-O - TSN Jets

What can you do, they looked a bit tired, but hopefully they can turn it around and go on another winning streak.

This one's not over yet.  We'll get a couple of more chances.

Gotta get it out of our end first. Horrible. Oh well would have been nice to sneak a point tonight.

Oh well. 2nd game of a back to back and 3rd of 3 in 4. Not surprised they lost tonight.

That being said, I can't remember the last game I saw with so many players just falling over. The ice in Winnipeg looks like it's really bad.

Well, I guess the good news this game confirmed to me the Jets are a garbage team so I'm not worried about the catching up in the playoff race.

We looked slow and lazy tonight.  We couldn't connect 2 passes it was pretty ridiculous.  Ah well, games like this happen over the course of a year.  It's too bad, we could have really buried them, but we didn't play well and didn't deserve to win.

Which makes precisely no sense, it's usually -50 out there, why is their ice that bad?

That was some atrocious final minute effort from the Leafs.  They were gassed.

They were gassed because Monster decided to keep the play going when they were pinned in their own end. Other than that, he was solid.

Oh well, screw the Jets. I hope they fold again and move to Mudlick, Kentucky.

Agreed with all of this.  Winnipeg probably should have never had their first goal, but it happens, part of the game.  I'm still liking how the team is playing.

Enough with the back to backs though, please.

Tonight I have learned that missing the net on a one-timer is somehow related to your IQ level.

The more you know...

Figured you'd have a smart ass remark. Others seem to understand what I'm getting at.

No, I don't.  Obviously Phaneuf shoots it hard when he gets a chance to, that's how he scores goals - having a hard shot.

The one you're talking about wasn't even a particularly hard shot anyways.  Kessel made a quick pass to him and he tried to get it off quick.  He missed the net.  No need to bring his IQ level into it, unless you want your IQ level dissected by me as well.

Sorry I won't pick on your buddy again. Go back to your schoolbooks.

True, and factor in a fairly long flight to get to WPG.  Nonetheless, it would have been very nice to get a point out of this team.  The game in Philly is going to be a tough row to hoe.

My guess is their AHL veteran management.

I guess it was a mistake to promote that stray cat who lived in the basement of the Manitoba Moose' #6 fan to Head Ice Maker.

Pretty sure we have quite a few back to backs coming up in march :/

If I remember correctly, 8 games (four pairs of back to backs)

Well, I'm afraid we'll get pummelled by the Flyers, then hopefully move on with some wins from there, starting with Sundin night.

The tying goal was pretty weak, but Gus played pretty well.

I felt the difference in this game was size. Bogosian, Stuart, Byfuglien and some of the forwards (Thorburn, Slater, some other guys) clogged up the neutral zone, and generally collapsed around the goalie any time we were in their zone.

Those who think this team doesn't need to make a move or two (referring to Feschuk, for one) just need to look at this game or the games against Boston.

It wasn't for lack of effort we lost. We played decently well, and if Lombardi pots that breakaway we're into overtime.

Like I said, this wasn't a difference in talent, but a difference in size (yes I realize we were probably a little tired).
