Game 14 - Bruins @ Leafs - Saturday November 5th, 2011 - 19:00 EST - 7-0 L

8-0 Philly, none of the columbus goalies are saving over 70%, Mason back in the net? ugh

Good decision to start Scrivens.  I'm glad they thought he was the saviour after beating the worst team in history.

Well they kinda deserved that one.

Seguin looks great. He sure wants Leafs fans to know who won that trade.

It was Boston! Boston! Not our beloved Maple Leafs. Oh the shame, oh the utter shame of it all. Boston got a very good player in Seguin and the Maple Leafs only got some punk. Sure he's leading the league in scoring but he's uncourageously struggled twice against the league's best defenseman this year.

I hate you Phil Kessel. Crawl back to the demon womb that spat you out into the world.

First game after a long stretch on the road is often a bit of a let down, but, this is too much. Just plain bad tonight.

As something else negative to focus on beyond this travesty of a game -

WHO THE FLYING HELL is the color commentator on CBC now with Jim Hughson? Is it Craig Simpson or Glen Healey?

Anyway, my point is, this guys entire job is apparently to sit there and make idiotic remarks about how much the Leafs suck and why. Even when the game was 0-0 and 1-0, Ive noticed this all year, he never shuts up.

They could be winning 5-0 and he'd go on about how theyre lucky to be winning because theyre so awful because of reasons x and y.

I seriously can barely sit through CBC broadcasts anymore, this guy is so unbelievably biased against the Leafs its just too hard to ignore.

He pointed to the leafs coming on to the ice at one point and said how lazy they were walking and thats why theyre going to lose. Really man? They aren't walking upright enough for you?

I hate this guy even more than McGuire who while very annoying, at least had some decent points at times and was fair.

It's just something about Boston.  They are confident playing us, we are not confident playing them, etc.

What is that thing the Bruins do on the rush where one player has the puck and he directs it directly onto the tape of the stick of a teammate?

Also, this commentator tried for a while you could tell to hold back the inevitable "well look how badly the leafs lost this trade, seguin is awesome and has a hat trick and kessel is crap.", but of course, he had to point that out and go on about it for a few minutes.

I hate Healy as much as anyone but the Leafs did look like they were carrying the game in a coffin.

Yeah, which sucks and all, but, isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world either. A game like this every couple weeks helps keep them honest, and, Boston getting some points helps keep them out of the bottom 5, just in case they don't manage to really turn it around. Obviously, I'd rather see the Leafs win and tonight's game has been very hard to watch, but, it's not the end of the world and other such cliches.

Also, I know this is my big-city snobbery at it's worst but every time I see that CBC ad for Arctic Air or whatever and hear the line "In twenty years Yellowknife is going to look like Calgary" I'm not ashamed to admit I laugh a little.

Oh well, back to earth with a big thud.

The Leafs certainly appear to be a better team this year-how much better, I'm not sure yet. My measuring stick teams for the Leafs are Boston, Buffalo, Philadelphia and Vancouver.

So far, not so good, but it's still early.
