Seriously? How many goals did Reimer score when he was in net? How many years in a row can we be a basement dwelling team in special teams before we realize it's coaching? Have we not had enough turn over yet on the team? Is it not the coaches job to get these guys going?

It's pretty clear from the stats the Leafs have played better when Reimer has been in net.
Same can be said about Armstrong. If the heart of this team lies in a goalie who hasn't played a full season yet, we're in really big trouble.

I don't think it's a Reimer specific thing, just the fact that the team plays better when they have had much more consistent netminding than they have had since the lockout.

Let's cut to the chase here.  Argue all you want to about whether this or that piece of crap is Wilson's fault.  The fact is that the team hasn't gotten it done, and he's been here more than 3 years.  At some point you gas the coach.  Burke should have done it last year but he's letting friendship get in the way of a decision that any other franchise would have made long ago.  End of story.

It was a two on one and a screen shot that scored on Scrivens. I'm more inclinded to be annoyed by all the odd man rushes tonight than goaltending, so far anyway.

So if a goaltender is in position, he is not obliged to, you know, make a save?

If you can name a guy who has saved every shot ever taken at him then I will concede your point. But until then I'll blame the Leafs' defense for the score tonight, not Scrivens' goaltending, maybe his puck handling, but that's a rookie mistake not a bad goaltending mistake.

When do people start saying it's the goaltender's fault. When their SV% is below .800? .700? I mean, honestly. 2/3 shots went in. The first he should've saved as he was in position but blew the save like Raycroft.

Secondly, he made an idiotic play and was screened due to a dumb play. Decent goaltending would have it at a 0-0 game.

If Phoenix had our goaltending we'd be up 4-0 by now.

Yup and if we had  Dave Tippett as head coach we would be in first place right now

Seriously, no we wouldn't. Our goaltending is bad irrespective of defense right now. It's just bad.

I would argue that our coaching has been as bad, if not worse that our goaltending.

Right, I forgot. It's Wilson's fault the goalies can't make saves. It's also Wilson's fault we were winning when we had a decent goaltender in Reimer. Wilson has bad systems.

I don't even know what logic you're employing here. When your goaltending is jostling for being as bad as the goaltending of Leafs Ca. 1985, you have a goaltending problem, not a coaching problem. Scotty Bowman couldn't coach Scrivens or Gus to make timely saves.

I don't know how many times this will be ignored but Minnesota has scored less goals than Toronto this season, and have a horrible PK yet they're doing well. Their goaltending is keeping them in games. This was the same with the Leafs teams during the Quinn years. They know they don't have to score a lot, and they don't worry about their goaltender blowing bad shots.

This might surprise you but you don't NEED good special teams to win. You can still win by being the more dominant team 5 on 5. Chicago also has horrific special teams and are in the bottom 1/3 in the league in special teams, but are 3rd in Pts%. Detroit's also not having a good year in special teams but they're doing well.

I don't know how people are looking at anything but goaltending right now. Yes, the Leafs need to score goals, but maybe they'd score a little bit more if they didn't have to worry about their goaltender NEVER bailing them out.

You can't play to not lose and expect to win!

I do agree with you. I'm just so friggin frustrated that we have the same issues year in and year out.

The heart of the team lies in decent goaltending, like many, many other teams.

Maybe if Burke doesn't make a move on Wilson soon someone will make a move on both of them.

Burke will get rid of Wilson AFTER he fixes the goaltending problem.

Has Burke ever acquired a competent goaltender in his career as a GM?

Cause Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Calgary are all elite teams?

Before or after you give him a decent goaltender? If we had Nicklas Backstrom or Pekka Rinne we wouldn't even be talking about canning Wilson.

He has played more than 4 games as a Leaf.

It doesn't take a genius to look at his stats vs. the Leafs record last season, either.
