I recall thinking a few games ago if we won a few in a row we could take a loss against Boston.  I really hope we can pull something off against Boston though.  I think Grabbo should plant Chara into the ice.

well the only issue on taking the loss with boston is that winning the next one against the pens isn't exactly going to be a cakewalk...getting one of those fancy OTL points might be nice though

?Those are big tough men fighting,? said Carlyle. ?You see that, you just wish the trainer get there quicker.?

Said McLaren: ?I hope he?s OK.?

?It was just a lucky punch. It happens some times.?

McLaren, who seemed mortified at what happened, wore the scars of battle himself. He needed eight stitches to repair a cut on his chin opened during the fight. And he took another four for a gash on the cheek carved open by a stick later in the game.

It seemed to me that the Leafs still have trouble getting out of their zone against even a somewhat aggressive forecheck, but at least tonight they mostly mucked around the boards rather than creating as many huge giveaways as they sometimes do.  It's an improvement?  Still, getting outshot 43-28 is pretty ugly.  Reimer looked a little more sturdy and it proved the difference.

I didn't really like how the Leafs took their foot off the gas in the third. That's how you lose games, this team should know that. I've seen this again a few times this season. It must drive Carlyle around the bend.

It's just what happens when a team goes up by a few goals, the other team tends to (tends to, not 100% of the time) get more shots on goal after that point, get more chances, etc.  Also referred to as "score effects" by those statistical folk, and why the stats guys like to look at tie situations for some of their metrics as more useful.

@THNKenCampbell: Zach Smith of Sens said McLaren "was asking (Dziurzynski) to fight as soon as we got on the ice. That's what McLaren does."

Yes. McLaren is a fighter. I'm glad Zach Smith brought this to our attention.

I don't think that was the point of his comment.

I get why it happens, but I've seen them play a full game, while being up, just wish they only let up after the other team has given up, which Ottawa didn't do last night. That 4th Ottawa goal was the one that bugged me most I think.

I'm still glad they got the 2 points, but this issue is just something that I hope they correct, going into the playoffs.
