Game 25: Bruins @ Leafs 7:00PM TSN

the leafs just have to draw some inspiration from the marlies...they weren't supposed to go into St Johns and take two wins from them ....and the leafs get to play one of these games at home

I'm with you in principle but vs. Boston? I go against that principle and attack them with as much speed if possible. Force Boston in to dumb penalties, you know? Let our PP win us the game. I'd even toy with the idea of putting JG on the wing in place of Rosehill.

The principle here is much more important than the opponent in a single game. It's a bigger picture thing, and, when it comes to calling people up for short stints and such, it's the bigger picture that's important. Everything you want the Leafs to do can be accomplished perfectly well without using Kadri like a yo-yo for tonight's game.

Well surely there's HAS to be a better option than Rosehill, no? What about Mueller? I don't mean to speak ill of Rosehill as clearly he serves a purpose but I don't want to get in to that kind of game with Boston.

The 23 man is full, Someone would have to go down to call up Mueller, I know popular opinion seems to be waive Orr, but that's just not going to happen at this point. There are no forwards of the 14 on the roster that can be sent down except Frattin. Steckel And Orr scratched leaves the 12 that will play today.

I guess Aulie could go down, but to only have 6 healthy d-men on the roster is a bad idea.

Without making roster moves, there is no option outside of Orr.

That also would have had to have happened yesterday in order to get a player up for tonight's game.

I don't think this is a critical game. But I do think it's an important one. The Leafs have made some progress over the last few weeks. Win or lose, if they give the Bruins a good game, I think that will help solidify their confidence in their progress.

That's what I expect to see. I wouldn't be shocked if they beat the Bruins if they play their own game and avoid trying to knock heads with the Bruins. Take the hit while making the pass and skate like the wind.

I don't see the Bruins as an invincible power house.

I just don't want to see Seguin rack up any more points against the Leafs the next 2 games, is that too much to ask?  To not constantly be slapped in the face by Seguin?

Why do people insinuate that Seguin has some kind of axe to grind against Toronto? He has no connection to the team at all. For all we know, had the Leafs had that pick, they could have drafted someone else. It's not like he was a Leaf and was run out of town...

i also agree that the season doesn't hinge on this game...but i can't help but thinking that losing both of these games would probably be bad for the moral over the next little while

Is it me or does this kinda feel like a playoff match?

Game 1 tonight. Game 2 on Saturday.

Got to take one of these games!!

I can't remember the last time i've been this geared up for a regular season game.  I suppose the first game of the regular season is always a big one after not seeing hockey all summer, but this ranks up there pretty high.  I just hope the Leafs are as geared up as I am.

When I used the "critical" term I was only referring to this week's 3 games. As this home game is the most winnable of the three (on paper) makes it the most important to get some points.

I dont think he insinuated there was an axe to grind at all.

It's just that Seguin most likely would have been a Leaf, the Kessel trade is popular fodder for general media and fans alike, and, when both teams face each other, those moot comparisons are continually the central story of each game.

Personally I just want the Leafs to win, but a combination of Boston winning/Seguin going to town agasint us always seems to add extra fuel to Leaf-burning fire.

Seguin was never ours to lose, so I don't even consider the alternate reality of him as a Leaf.
There is a player that was lost that has made me steamed ever since: Mr Tuukka Rask.

was thinking the exact same thing...most excitement over a regular season game in a long time.

As usual, cw's appraisal is level-headed, judicious, and accurate.  It's an important, but not a critical, game.

However, I'm a firm believer that fans need to be, well, fanatical.

Therefore, I will disregard cw and urge our heroes to

DESTROY THEIR WILL TO LIVE

Leafs need to win tonight or Saturday, preferably both against the Bruins.  They need to show the other top teams that they can compete against the top teams.
