The Leafs are getting dangerously close to my prediction of being out of the playoffs by January. If there's ever been a string of must win games, this is it.

Out of a playoff position is hugely different than out of the playoffs (ie no chance of making it).

A prediction of out of a playoff spot was nothing big as 4th to 10th or whatever were separated by 5 or 6 pts for the majority of the season.

I know Gardiner is a smooth skater and all that, but has he actually racked up the points or QB'd a PP lethally to warrant all the time he seems to get on it?

No, but the alternative is you exhaust Gunnarsson by giving him PP time.  To be honest, I think Gardiner needs to be in the AHL, he's making a lot of mistakes.

Back to back PPs and those really have not looked very good.

How many times are we going to hear "nice pass by Kadri....I don't think he was ready for it".  What are you doing playing on the PP if you aren't looking for the puck?

That's twice that players seemed unprepared for Kadri's passes, I'm sure they'll be ready next time, he looks terrific once again.

Defensively, Gardiner's been less than great most of the season, and he's not exactly producing massively on the offensive side of things, either. I really like his potential and you can clearly see he's very skilled, he jsut needs some polish. I'd send him down when Komisarek and Liles are back.

Considering how they started the season, I wouldn't have expected them to fall out at all. I guess the mistake was thinking that maybe the Leafs were actually as good as they were playing.

Yeah, I don't think Burke should be sending him back down anytime soon.

Leafs have been absolutely robbed on 3 plays now.

Lupul. Connolly and Crabb there. All could easily have been goals if not for excellent goaltending on Ward's part.

Lupul was hooked and didn't get a shot off, Connolly missed the net completely and Crabb couldn't lift it.

I don't think Wards stolen anything, he made 1 nice save and that's Crabb on his backhand not lifting it enough.

From anything I've ever heard about him, Gardiner was never really expected to be a crazy offensive force or anything. He's just a great skater with a solid game.

He's getting second PP toi for the most part, just like Franson. The situation may be magnified some with Liles being out, it looks like Gunnar is filling in too.

I mean, you want Aulie out there? It's either him or Schenn...
